About Square of Joy
Square of Joy is a challenging (but fair) climbing game. Controls are very simple; you can rotate and push yourself using one of (or all) 4 limbs, just like a regular human. But also just like in real life, there is Newtonian physics acting against you. With a little practice though, you will learn to use it to your advantage, to gain momentum and maintain the satisfying flow.

- Climb up, reach the top, using nothing but your skill and will.
- Compete with Steam friends and players from all over the world.
- Discover secrets along the way.

Square of joy is a pretty good foddian game where you control 4 arm with the 4 face button around your character and have to remember which arm is which when your character is rotated. You can also slightly rotate your character with joystick to help you. Albeit pretty short in size, the difficulty makes it hard enough to bring you a lots of playtime, while the map still staying fair to the player. The game also has a few secret room that each offer a unique challenge and rewards you with currency to get skin. My small con with the game would be that the secret area close when exiting the game and sometime you have to enter them to see if you have collected the item. I would definitivly recommend it to foddian enjoyer7 found this helpful
Fun little game. It's satisfying to play, well polished, and criminally overlooked.3 found this helpful
I'm leaving my review as an older gamer just to say that this game was too frustrating and difficult for me, and after trying over and over to figure it out, I finally gave up and asked Steam for a refund. It wasn't fun. Sorry.
'Square of Joy' is a quaint foddian with such a novel control scheme that it feels almost wasted if left isolated in a project of this scale; I can imagine it working extremely well in a puzzle metroidvania or even a multiplayer party game. Watch the trailer to see what I mean. What this game does contribute to the rage climbing platformer subgenre is excellent. The map is relatively small but mostly well-designed, also containing some hidden collectibles and cool character unlocks. There are some very tricky segments in the last third which kept me stuck for hours on end, with the last few "jumps" being especially cruel. Unless you're a gaming god, be prepared to attempt some of the same maneuvers a dozen times or more before finally getting a favorable outcome. Despite the frustration, I ultimately had a good time with it.
