This is a horror-themed Walking Sim. It's psychological, immersive, dark, and suspenseful. There are a few minor attempts at jump-scares, but they probably won't frighten anybody over the age of ten, so I don't think it classifies as a true horror game. There is only one section, in the mines, where "[i]monsters[/i]" will chase you, but they don't see too well in the dark, and thus are actually quite easy to avoid. In this game, you are playing as journalist Christopher Adams. Starting out, you go to an abandoned factory, where police discovered the body of a girl who had been reported missing a couple of years ago. In the factory, you find a set of mysterious stairs going downward. Of course, as a curious journalist, you want to investigate where they go, and therein the "[i]fun[/i]" begins. The overall story is decent. The graphics are pretty standard for a 2015 game of this type. The devs are foreign ([i]either Swedish or Danish, I think[/i]), and they forgot to translate a few things, but that didn't slow me down any, so I guess those things were not that important to the core of the story. Climbing endless stairs feels like a meditation on patience, each creak is a tiny applause, and somehow you end up smiling at the absurdity if the steps were made of pancakes I’d never want to stop

Mainly a walking simulator, but there are quite a few puzzles that are very easy to beat. The ambient was absolutely on spot! It's the type of psychological horror that I enjoy. Has a few jumpscares but nothing too much to the point it would jump on your screen, so we can say they're balanced. As for the story... started well at first but then I feel like it got all tangled up and less realistic. Did not match my expectations. The ending just made me say "is that it?" so yeah... Last but not least, BUGS! My beloved bugs! Definitely could have a little more work put into this because not only some achievements are bugged, but also encountered a visual bug when running from a chaser (that pulled up my wtf mode but was quite funny). Has voice acting but near the end of the game it was simply...gone? Ok then 0.o Nonetheless, it's worth a shot if you buy it on discount.

Stairs is a fairly basic Unreal asset flipped first person horror adventure, one of many hundreds, if not thousands of these glutting Steam. The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unreal Marketplace assets, arranged them haphazardly in a first person adventure game template, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. Stairs is an older game from 2015. It's a venerable 10 years old at the time of this review, and, in fairness, some effort went into arranging the assets into a comprehensive story, but it's an incredibly hard sell given the utterly unrealistic pricing on a 10 year old asset flip.
