About Starship Saboteur Prototype
❕ Starship Saboteur Prototype is a short free prototype made by Catland. We are not developing a full game out of it, but you can enjoy one level with estimated 30 minutes of playtime and replayability in this short but sweet prototype! Starship Saboteur Prototype is a topdown action game prototype which you can play lethally or in full stealth. Shoot or sneak your way through a starship filled with enemy patrols, things to sabotage and captains to hurl out of windows into the cold depth of space.
In Starship Saboteur Prototype, you sneak onto spaceships and break everything to stop an intergalactic war between three factions. This level is set aboard the Magellan, a huge Celestial Collective starship. Try out multiple playstyles, including knocking out the captain nonlethally or breaking into the armory to cause carnage. You can even cause an enemy invasion to the ship if you disable the shields and let the enemy faction take out the objectives for you!
Starship Saboteur Prototype was made in just 16 weeks. It contains a single level of the game with both stealth and run'n'gun playstyles. Combining action, stealth and twin stick shooting, the prototype of Starship Saboteur is our experiment on whether you can get RPG-like choices and consequences in a topdown game. While we chose not to pursue its development further, leave a comment in our forums with your ideas and how you liked the experience.
Premise for some good top down shooter set in space. Get on spaceships, loot them, scavenge them or sabotage them. You can go stealthly or aggressive by shooting everything in your sight. Controls are ok and smooth, no complain here. Current prototype have only one mission. Most annoying thing - couldn't see enemies standing in door frames as they hinder the view. There're some bugs here and there obviously. If you're looking for something similar but far superior play Heat Signature.
19 found this helpful

To me it's like a reverse version of FTL but your the invader :) i had a ton of fun with this and i recommend a try. My favorite thing was dragging bodies to the airlock and ejecting them.1 found this helpful
"Starship Saboteur Prototype" is a pointless waste of time... it's a tech demo/vertical slice of a game that's never going to be made, dumped on Steam by a failed development team for no discernable reason apart from to pollute up the place with incomplete game demos for games that don't exist. Why is this good for gamers? It's not. What do you do in the game? This is a badly made, janky and bug riddled top down shooter, so what you do is go from room to room shooting stuff... basically this is the front end only of an attempt to make an Alien Breed ripoff, only worse in all respects. Did Steam need a weak, incomplete ripoff of Alien Breed? Of course not, especially when, you know, you could just play Alien Breed. The game is quite short, and can be run through in just 30 minutes. The lack of content here makes it hard to suggest it's worth spending the time to add to your library and download. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or som…
Really awesome and inventive, I wish more was coming
