The art is nice, the combat is engaging enough. However, the story is filled with more questions and there's not enough to latch onto to care about it. It feels like it was rushed or there's supposed to be more. If you're coming from games like BlazBlue:EntropyEffect, Skul, or Astral Ascent, you will find NO challenge here. The repetition will be tedious and once you find your character and playstyle you will not deviate from it. Thing is, you find it in 30 minutes or less depending on your speed. I will also say that the effort in just unlocking Master Mode after turning everything off to base stats, I'm sorry, what? Nah, you're not getting a NG+ out of me, sad to say. It's not a terrible game, I'd say it'd be good for new people unfamiliar with this genre of games. The asking price of $15 for less than 5 hrs of experience for me, aint worth it, maybe on sale.

StormEdge, then. A rogue-lite where you do the same attack over and over until the game ends or you do, whichever comes first, and honestly by the end I wasn't fussed which. Here's the thing. I like short games. Life's short, games should be too, get in, have a laugh, get out. But there's short-and-lovely and there's short-and-please-stop, and StormEdge kept wandering back and forth over that line like a man who's forgotten where he parked. I had fun. I'll say that clearly because I'm about to be a bit mean. I did have fun. And then I finished it and felt the specific joy of a thing being over, which is not quite the review a developer dreams of, is it. "He was delighted - to leave." So there's no thumbs up here, and there's no thumbs down either. What I want is a little sideways thumb. A shrug in emoji form. A "yeah, maybe, if it's cheap and you've got nothing on." Now. A lot of you are going to see the screenshots and think Wizard of Legend. Stop. It looks like that; it does not play like that. It actually opens more like Cult of the Lamb - the level design, not the goat-cult admin — where each run is a tidy fifteen minutes across one small area, then it's back to camp for per…

Impossible to beat all achievements. The last achievement is to beat the game on Master Mode, and if you die a few times you restart the whole game. Not to mention the last boss, Gloria, which alone will destroy your run at the end if you haven't died from other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ already. The idiots behind the game made sure that if you haven't ruined your run so far, the boss will obliterate you, including all the glitches such as your special attack doing nothing, or simply not mentioning that your special attack must be unlocked before you enter the boss fight otherwise you can't kill the boss because it's mandatory. You get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like a ♥♥♥♥♥ until eventually you just want to do a certain thing with your wrists. The developers should take this garbage off steam if they don't plan on working on it anymore, othewrise uninstalled, downreviewed, and hopefully something terribly malevolent and accursed should occur in their own lives. The game is a spamfest that gets dry real quickly, there is no skill involved other than click space to dodge red enemies and you will still die from things that are not your own fault in the end, such as the various freezings that happen to you in winte…

It's fine, but I just didn't see enough during the time I played it to recommend it, since the dev seems to have abandoned it after the "first update". To be fair, it does seem like a complete game, though.

StormEdge caused me to have a fair amount of joy while playing. There are enough different characters and upgrades to keep you interested for a few hours. It is well put together has a good enough loop to command my time when I had 1200 other steam games to choose from. A great title to add to your backlog or to play right away as it isn't too long. If you enjoy the gameplay videos you will like the game. Just keep your expectations grounded as it is a smaller game with fewer man hours than some of your favorites.
