Strange Brigade is kind of like playing Zombie Army with different skins. It's a decent game get it on sale2 found this helpful
Lots of fun, although co-op is pretty dead nowadays unless you link up with people via Discord or the Steam forum. A pulpy, campy adventure shooter that has some significant flaws but is still worth playing. Puzzles are fairly simple, but some you can't access unless you play one particular character. But they are well-hidden, so incentivize multiple playthroughs. Movement is SLOW, and there is no selectable sprint function. That is a simply bizarre choice by Rebellion. Instead your character auto sprints after a certain amount of time when running. Dodge is your best function, as most enemy attacks are directional and easier to roll out of than run away from Hitboxes for bosses are a decent size, but the wonky aim and absolutely dreadful "Rebellion Bounce" when aiming down sights makes them frankly an unpleasant chore. Hordes are fun, but bosses are tedious. Did I mention how slow your character is? Slow to sprint, slow to aim, slow to open gun boxes, slow to draw souls to the amulet, slow in every possible way. You can't run away to get respite from the hordes (in closed arenas, natch) so there is a frustration that you just cannot bring power to bear against them. I…1 found this helpful
Another 1-4 Co-Op Game? I'm here for it, and loving it! Strange Brigade is just a lot of fun. The graphics are pretty cool, a lot of the scenery is beautiful, and the levels are well designed. Plus, I love the snarky announcer guy. Is this the perfect game? No. But is it a damn lot of fun? Hell yes. 16 hours + 3 levels left to play. And after we're done with our first go through we are already talking about going back to look for some of the unlocks we know we've missed. Good value for $20.1 found this helpful
Fun in co-op, really worth it in a sale. 8/10
Strange Brigade is a functional 1930s pulp-fiction co-op shooter that shines with friends but drags when played alone. While the core gameplay is serviceable, solo play quickly becomes tedious and repetitive due to sluggish weapon reload times. However, the experience is heavily carried by its retro aesthetic, highly varied enemy designs, and a theatrical narrator. The game runs smoothly without any glaring technical issues and is frequently available at deep discounts. To get the most value out of it, skip the solo mode and grab it on sale to play on a higher difficulty setting with a group of friends.
This game is a ton of fun! It's gameplay similar to Left for Dead in a setting as pretty as Uncharted. And it's all woven together with sardonic narration taken straight from old school movies. It's a ton of fun to play. I played it for hours on my own. It's super entertaining. But playing it with friends? That's next level fun. Even when you're hopelessly overwhelmed and dying left and right, you can't help but have a good time. The physics are good and the weapon selection is varied enough to have a little something for everybody.
