✦ AI summary
Super Ricko's Islands is a free 3D platformer that players appreciate for its accessibility and lack of monetization, with some praising it as a solid free option on Steam. However, the game suffers from incomplete mechanics (coins and items serve no purpose), unfinished design from its previous version, heavy reliance on store assets, forgettable level design, and unclear progression systems that undermine the overall experience.

A free, family frendly, no-frills 3-D platformer, with some very techincal jumping, and a few bugs, I still enjoyed it, but most modern gamers would prefer to play AAA woke trash.1 found this helpful

TL;DR - Super Ricko's Islands is... acceptable. Full of underdeveloped or incomplete mechanics, as well as leftovers from the previous version. If you've got nothing better to do, you can play it, but don't go for completion, because it's impossible. This is one of the few games I can think of which has vestigial game design - useless or broken remnants from a previous version of the game called Ricko's Island that was removed from Steam. All of the coins you earn aren't used for anything, but in the original game, you apparently could purchase abilities, extra jumps and air dashes, and perhaps other things. Additionally, the past version of the game also took inspiration from Super Mario Odyssey, giving the character the ability to take control of monsters, but this has been stripped out from Super Ricko's Islands, leaving some collectibles inaccessible in the new version, and mandating your own death to collect others. Still others don't seem to exist at all. For this reason, you shouldn't get too invested in completing the game. You have the ability to jump, double jump, air dash, wall jump, run, and sprint. However, the controls are awkward, and aren't delivered…1 found this helpful

The short: It's a bunch of Unreal store assets with little testing, forgetable levels, and labeled with another title's filename: "PetLands". Orbs unlock levels, I don't know what coins do, and dying applies 0 penalty. I enjoy platformer collect-a-thons, but SRI feels like I'm playing an Unreal Fab sample pack. The long: Triggered Windows Firewall because it wanted network access. The developer has 2 Steam accounts with overlapping game titles: Tbjbu2 Originals & Tbjbu2. The walking sound is of heavy boots on solid ground, despite the pack that it's from containing grass, mud and sand.
