👎 Review: SuperJumpWorld Rage I genuinely tried to like SuperJumpWorld Rage, but after playing it for a while I honestly don’t understand why anyone would recommend it. First of all, the game feels extremely barebones and unfinished. There are only 9 levels across 2 maps, which means you can basically see everything the game has to offer very quickly. For a platformer that is supposed to keep players engaged through challenge and replayability, the amount of content is incredibly small. The gameplay itself is supposed to be a rage platformer, but it often feels more like cheap frustration rather than meaningful difficulty. Good rage games make you feel like every mistake is your fault and that you can improve with practice. Here, many jumps feel awkward or inconsistent, and instead of learning from mistakes you often just feel like the game is wasting your time. Another problem is the lack of variety. The obstacles are extremely basic — spikes, rocks, knives — and the level design doesn’t really evolve beyond that. After the first few levels you’ve basically seen every mechanic the game has. "SuperJumpWorld Rage" is an unabashed ripoff of Super Mario Bros (the developer even admits so), yet, somehow, has even worse graphics. And we all know Super Mario Bros was hardly a graphical masterpiece... it was the tightly polished gameplay that put platformers onto the forefront of video games. This ripoff doesn't even come close to Super Mario Bros in terms of gameplay, it's a janky, unpolished mess. This features really godawful, lazy pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game.
