I went into Swarm Me thinking I was going to be playing a tower defence game, only to discover it was actually much more of a fast-paced twin-stick survival shooter, with very little tower defense mechanics. Once I'd adjusted my expectations, I found myself having a surprisingly good time. My very first attempt lasted all of 16 seconds, which wasn't exactly a glorious start! Thankfully, each run taught me something new. By the end of my session I was surviving into the fifteenth wave, unlocking upgrades and steadily improving. That constant feeling of getting a little better each run is what kept me coming back for "just one more go." The controls feel responsive, the action is frantic without becoming overwhelming, and there's a satisfying progression as your build starts coming together. If you enjoy arcade-style survival games where improving your own skill is just as important as upgrading your character, there's plenty here to enjoy. The one thing that stopped this becoming an instant favourite for me was that I never quite found that special feature that makes it stand out from other games in the genre. Everything it does is solid, but I was left wanting one extra mechanic…2 found this helpful
I played the demo and left feedback for the devs on the forums, the dev will be adding a new addition to the game so I purchased it. The objective of the game is easy to learn, survive as long as you can. You have different game modes to play, waves classic which includes 2 modes and swarm survival. I enjoy the weapon based game mode in waves classic and it's a lot more tactical than it first appears. The game has a small tutorial which explains what certain pickups do, then it's straight in to a game, which starts nice and easy, but soon gets very busy. There are multiple rooms which can be unlocked as you progress, these can contain more traps (some need to be repaired before they can be used), upgrades or a store where you can buy different things, more speed, health regeneration, weapon upgrades, etc. There are various traps in certain rooms, they do have a cooldown period, but each trap can be upgraded. This is done instantly as you pass the trap (press the relevant key and have enough credits), the trap can then be used to kill whatever might be following you. (bosses excluded). There are bosses that appear from time to time, it will take multiple hits from your weapo…2 found this helpful
There are some learning curves here and there to get far in the game! Overall not bad!1 found this helpful
I played arcade games very long time ago (from the Sinclair Spectrum era... yes, I'm from those times) and this game gave me some nostalgic vibes from the past! Which I liked! Swarm Me is a top-down survival arcade game developed by KBGS Studios. The core gameplay revolves around surviving relentless waves of enemies in a weaponized arena, with boss fights, special waves, and new items to enhance the challenge and variety. My favourite gameplay was to survive without guns, focusing on evasion and arena control, it was fun to runaway all around arena and try to survive relentless waves. Great ambience and sound and music. It was also fun, that music become harder and darker with every new wave. I wanted to survive to just continue to listen to music! Fun and easy gameplay. You just need keyboard and mouse. If you want you can use other means, but I felt comfortable evading enemies by k+m. The game is a fun pass-time and perhaps for competitive people who likes to check their records and try to beat them every time they load the game. Strongly advised!
