Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse

It's a decent point-and-click adventure game. The story is kinda mid with a few interesting moments, the characters are mostly forgettable, and some of the puzzles are borderline impossible without outside help (I'm looking at you desk puzzle). Would I suggest it? If you are a fan of the Broken Sword series, then yes. But if you are a newcomer to the series, go and play either the 1st or 2nd game first as your enjoyment of them will determine if this game is worth considering buying. Overall, I'd say buy it on a sale. The story, the puzzles, and the characters and their dialogue are the main focuses of games like this, and unfortunately it's a rather average game, a servicable 5/10. It's not bad, but it's also not good. If you want to take my word for it, I never laughed once at any joke or supposedly funny moment in this game, meanwhile with 1 and 2 I did laugh several times.

Overall despite many people claim that this game isn't as good as the first two, I found myself enjoy this the most, the story was intriguing, and kept me guessing, and there were very clever puzzles in the later half of the game, but I also need to mention that by the end of it, it felt like a puzzle fest, and there were puzzles that felt like a fever dream. I think animation and graphics wise Broken Sword 5 might be the most beautiful point and click games I've ever played with, and also some of the longest too. In that regard it's clear why we rarely get a new installment in that series cause the animations always one up each other with the current available technologies, who knows, once Palzivar's stone releases it will be as if playing a Pixar game. It's kind of a shame I couldn't really enjoy the previous installments to this extenct, but honestly I would recommend this title to anyone who perhaps felt the same, and let the series go with 2, cause Broken Sword 5 altough has it's flaws, it is funny, intriguing and a killer adventure game overall.

Not bad, but not good either. Decent in parts, some sections and characters felt massively out of place. The story is good for the most part but the ending is very poor. The puzzles start off ok but then become stupid. You would think with all that experience you would sit down and write a tight story with solid puzzles, but it was a bit of a mixed bag. Would I recommend this game, yes definitely, even with all it's flaws it's still a classic point and click game with loads of charm.

Playing as the duo George Stobbart and Nico Collard, you’re drawn into a gripping mystery involving a stolen painting, a murder, and a conspiracy older than the written word. The story is engaging, offering a compelling mix of history, conspiracy, and humor. The hand-drawn art style is gorgeous and perfectly captures the series’ classic European charm. The puzzles can be extremely difficult and quickly become frustrating due to the lack of hints and the slow pace of interactions in the game. Some achievements are completely hidden and missable, with almost no clues for finding them naturally. You’ll likely need a guide or walkthrough, otherwise you may never discover them on your own. If you love classic point-and-click adventures, this is an recommendation. However, based on my personal experience and feelings while playing, it’s hard for me to fully recommend it to people I know. 5/10
