Tails of Glimmervale

A short little story with some cute art and nice music. Not much to say, but don't expect to be blown away - this isn't made to be the next big thing in gaming. It was made for fun by people who wanted to have fun with each other making something.

Short and cute adventure. It feels like a student project, so I reviewed it with that in mind. I really wanted to give this a thumbs up because the passion and vibes are definitely there, but it has some issues that need to be addressed. Considering the $10 price tag, there are currently a few too many rough edges for me to fully recommend it. I might come back and replay it after a later patch and update my review <3 Good: - The art and animations are great - The environments look really nice - Combat is surprisingly fun, with a great variety of enemies. Even though you only have one attack and the boomerang, it still stays engaging - The characters are cute, and I like the style - The bosses are really well done and genuinely feel like proper souls-like fights. Bamsefar gave me a proper beating Bad: It feels unfinished, which is unfortunate because it’s really close to being a complete package. The video settings are just a single resolution dropdown, which didn’t even work for me, and it’s completely unstyled. TLDR: its a good game but there are some minor aspects that make it feel a little unpolished I think this game is worth its price and is is sold initial game from a group of developers, but the signs that this game is the first they have released are very evident. The pacing, the lack of use in their inventory or the map, a trigger not being removed after a reload(I saw the cutscene before spring village twice), i got into a spot before the first enemy that i had to go to the main menu and respawn to fix. All of those things are negative, but i though the combat experience was not bad and the characters and dialogue were both good as well which add up to 90% of the gameplay being good with evident distractions every once in a while.

I bought this game on a whim. I am glad I did, BUT: some of the sound effects are deafening despite my master volume being low. Combat feels very sluggish, overall movement feels very sluggish too. However the game is pretty, and the dialogue is funny.

Short and sweet, fuzzy rpg. I recommend this to anyone who just wants to open a short story in the form of a game. The game doesn't offer a wide variety, nor does it require very much from you. And its cute furry animal pixel art is rather impressive.
