About Brighter Days

Hand Crafted World

Explore the Scarred Lands, a hand crafted world full of things to find and uncover. Traverse the landscape by unlocking areas and platforming between locations with a new item around every corner.

Intense Parry Based Combat

Fight, dodge, and parry enemies breaking down their health, parry enemies to break their stance and go in for heavy damaging blows. Not all attacks can be parried due to being too powerful so you must dodge out of the way to avoid it. Each sword has a unique weapon art that does high damage or provides a buff in differing ways to give more unique build opportunities.

Upgrades

Upgrade using voltage taken from the death of enemies or finding voltage items through out the Scarred Lands. Use this currency to upgrade your attributes to become stronger and do more damage. You can also use it to upgrade weapons when you find the right materials.

Discover the Secrets of this World

The Scarred Lands contains futuristic sci fi technology stuck in a medieval like age due to fast development and evolution of their technology. A place lost to war plunged into ruin. Lord Abaddon of the Saurian Empire seeks to enact revenge on the people of the world for doing nothing as the Saurians starved in their icy prison. He took control of all the lands beneath the Ivory Towers but is now locked in stalemate. The war drags on, the fighting all but ceased, starvation and disease has wiped out most of what was left after the initial fighting. Lord Abaddon still hopes to lead his people to a new paradise and his people fight on, slaughtering those in the way. Despite the mistakes of the past you must fight the evil that threatens to turn the world to ash.

The game freezes on launch; it took 10 attempts. It feels like a term paper. Maybe there’s some effort in places, but it doesn’t qualify as a game. - Combat is awful. There’s no impact, no battle sounds. Enemies aren’t visible up close — just black spots. It’s unclear when and what to parry. - Even with a successful parry, we get knocked back — essentially losing our advantage. But sometimes the enemy falls to their knees. - There’s no draw distance — even though the game is supposed to have vast locations. Everything is obscured by fog after 10 meters. - The controls are just average. There are no settings, and the lighting is broken. *OBS couldn’t capture the game audio, so there’s no sound. I’m too lazy to figure it out for just five minutes.* https://youtu.be/mgpmkM2sDDc

It's hard to recommend this game and I believe the dev team had no bad intentions when making it, but it's terribly underdeveloped, the gameplay is so clunky that you often take damage even if you parried (which is indicated by the sound so I know I'm not imagining it), enemies tend to spawn in mid-air, and there are some terrain bugs here and there (like floating grass near a cliff), and the game doesn't explain anything, for example, I found the "hub area" completely by accident without any introduction, the game just throws you in and few bad design choices like i think you can't recover lost "souls", there are things the game does well, the music is decent, the combat isn't total crap for such a small title, and the setting is pretty cool, but it's not enough for me to enjoy this game which is such a shame, maybe if it was a demo or early alpha it would be okay, but for something that costs money (even a small amount like this one), I just can't, I'd gladly come back to it after many and I mean MANY tweaks and fixes, but for now it's a hard pass for me.
