The youngest prince of Fescilia is sent north on a mission he never asked for — and was never truly prepared for. Chosen more for convenience than experience, he is dispatched to Klodan, a harsh mountain kingdom buried under snow and old fears. In Fescilia, Klodan is the subject of unsettling tales, whispered rather than told aloud. Still, this is meant to be a diplomatic journey: peace talks, trade agreements, polite words exchanged across a table.Officially, he travels as an envoy of the crown. Unofficially, he is expendable.By his side is Leo — his personal guard and closest friend, the one constant he trusts more than court etiquette or carefully memorized speeches.Klodan greets them with cold stone, colder smiles, and an atmosphere thick with things left unsaid. The people are courteous, but guarded. The castles are grand, yet oppressive. [b]💬 Supportive Caveat[/b] I received this game for free through the Steam Curator Connect program, but that does not influence my review. This is also an episodic release, and at the time of review only Chapter 1 is available, with future chapters confirmed to be included in the base purchase price. What is here is clearly a partial experience, but it is priced cheaply enough that the scope feels fair. The developer also discloses that AI was used to initially generate some visual assets, which were then processed and completed by humans. Personally, I did not find the visuals off-putting or sloppy, but I know some players will care about that disclosure much more than I do. This first chapter took me just under two hours and is mostly focused on setup, lore, and establishing the main cast rather than delivering major route divergence. Tales of Klodan is a BL visual novel built on Ren'Py for PC. This review covers the first chapter only. Playtime: eighty-seven minutes. Purchase price: one hundred twenty-five rubles (roughly $1.50 — less than a cup of coffee). The game presents an anime-inspired aesthetic that feels cohesive: backgrounds do not clash with character sprites, and the overall design holds together. The music deserves special mention — it never fades into empty noise. The melodies are alive, memorable, and worth purchasing even as a standalone DLC. The Russian localization flows smoothly, free of machine-translated awkwardness or twisted grammatical cases; it reads as if written by someone who genuinely loves language. Technically, the novel is flawless: no bugs, no crashes, no garbled text. Saves work correctly, and the framerate never stutters. The protagonist is Adrian, a young prince. The setting is fantasy with a focus on politics and intrigue. Choices exist but remain clear, almost predictable. The rails are visible at all times — this is an interactive tale rather than a branching quest.
