About Tex Murphy: The Pandora Directive

The Government has covered up the greatest secret of the 20th century.
Tex doesn't like secrets.

It's April 2043 and you- as Tex Murphy, the last of the old-style gumshoes- find yourself racing against time in the most dangerous game of your life. What is the truth behind the rumored UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico? Why did the military suddenly shut down and seal off the Roswell complex? And why the frequent references to the lost Mayan civilization?

The Pandora Directive features:

Unrestricted movement. The unique "Virtual World" engine allows you to slip under desks, rifle through drawers, and see the flies tanning in the light fixtures. Without the restrictions of rendered paths, you can explore Tex's three-dimensional world with full freedom of movement.

The most replayability of any interactive movie to date. Follow one of three narrative paths leading to seven different endings. Are you a hard-nosed but honest P.I. struggling to overcome the forces of greed and corruption? Or a cynical opportunist who may have to "sell out" principles top score the big payoff? Perhaps you'll fall somewhere in between. Your choices could reveal more about yourself than you'd really like to know.

Two levels of play. The first level offers a complete on-line hint system to help you through the tougher puzzles. The second level- for expert gamers- has no hints available but rewards players with higher bonus points, extra puzzles and locations.

Hollywood! Enjoy the difference Hollywood cinematography, acting, editing, stuntwork, music, and direction make as the world of Tex Murphy becomes amazingly real. Cinematography and direction by Hollywood editor/director Adrian Carr (Quigley Down Under, Man From Snowy River, Power Rangers). Cast stars Barry Corbin (Northern Exposure, War Games), Tanya Roberts (View To A Kill, Beastmaster), and Kevin McCarthy (Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, Just Cause). Original song by blues musician Richie Havens.
  • The most interactive: Virtual World engine allows full freedom of movement. No rendered paths!
  • Play it again! Story line follows three different routes leading to seven totally different endings!
  • Mind bending: Intriguing mysteries and brainteasers that stretch the imagination.
  • The most playability: Two levels of play- complete on-line help or master level with no help.

Will Tex and Chelsee finally get together... or is there a new woman in Tex's life? A secret has been buried for 3,000 years. What really happened on July 6, 1947, just outside Roswell, New Mexico? "It was no weather balloon..." This case may be too hot for even Tex to handle. Intriguing puzzles challenge your wits.

The game starts much in the same was as Under a Killing Moon, slowly investigating your case. But very soon, your inventory is filled to the brim with items, you have a dictionary worth of conversation topics and a lot of places to visit without knowing if you are done with whatever you're suppose to do. Then during day 7 (out of 10), the game decides to just ♥♥♥♥ the player over. There's a very strict time limit to explore a pretty huge place and do quite a few things in order to survive. It takes all the wind out of the sails and it's just not fun. The game never really recovers from this. And this is all on the “entertainment mode”. The true gamer mode has harder puzzles and more timed puzzles. There are 7 endings, which all depends on choices you start making early in the adventure. It's not a case of just replaying the last part of the game, you have to replay the entire game to see a different ending. But it's not like the rest of the game plays out much different. It's the same game you played through the other time(s). It's all too much, too ambitious and it cripples the game.

Great game, though the controls are absolutely terrible... unless you use the mouselook mod that enables modern WASD/mouselook controls. It makes the game immediately 1,000% more enjoyable and you'll spend less time getting the camera in place just to click on an object https://github.com/moralrecordings/tex3-mouselook

First of all, let me start by saying...Nilo can go to hell. Second of all - Tex Murphy is a completely normal man. 6/10 - what is up with those controls dawg. PS: I wish I could know how to hold a sandwhich properly PPS: Why didn't Tex and the old man kiss. The sexual tension was thicker than ,molassas. Real Tex-Heads know.

The most ambitious of the Tex Murphy games. This one is old school that way. Back in those days there were these things called video game stores with actual boxes with actual video game hardware in them. How I miss them! Somehow my buddies and I passed on this follow-up to "Under a Killing Moon" (Tex Murphy 3), which remains my favorite of the series. The design of the box on "The Pandora Directive" didn't impress me at the time, nor could I convince any of my buddies to "invest" in it. "The Pandora Directive" looked too serious and cheesy for us adolescent boys with very limited PC gaming budgets at the time. Finding the Tex Murphy games available on Steam is truly terrific and this one is a hidden gem for me as an adult many years later. The Pandora Directive represents the best example of an attempt at a high replay value detective/adventure game in the style of the early live footage PC games. Be warned, oh reader! There are numerous bugs and/or flaws, but deep down in my heart this is the Tex Murphy game I wished I hadn't passed on as an adolescent. This one is truly a worthy yet bugged follow-up to Under a Killing Moon. The humor is here, but the story is richer, darker, …

Eu amo esse jogo... a atuação e cenas são toscas, mas o ritmo e e ambiência engajam muito. Definitivamente vale o teste.
