the developer seems like they made radical improvements since release which is a big+++++ for me. (1) Unfortunately, the developer is *only* a great developer. the entire storyline was pretty obvious in the first 15 minutes and from there it was a little annoying going through the story at the story’s pace. I’m not particularly clever, this was just so thickly layered with trope after trope. Also, I personally am just so done with women always being murder victims specifically because they are women. Feel like shouting READ ANOTHER BOOK except it’s kill another kind of victim. Scroll through law and order episode guides and take your pick. They’ve perfected the art of murdering pretty much everyone for every reason. (2) The UI and QoL features made continuing so frictionless I finished the game in one sitting. (3) The triggers for clue updates in the late game seem to be broken if you’re the kind of person who goes back to the clue and ignores notebooks summarizing information. (4) I genuinely wish I could turn both characters completely off. They weren’t annoying, but the constant stream of giving away every deduction and next step *was* annoying. Interesting game that dares stray from the cloze puzzle formula that seems to be the go-to for detective games these days. I could've done without the lecture at the end, though. Or the sequel bait. Rating: ★★★☆☆
Sequel? Sequel! SEQUEL!! This is to say, I loved this little game, and would eagerly pay twice the price for the next one. If you like detective games, this one's REAL GOOD, if a little short. I got all excited that the post-credits scene might be starting another portion of the game, and only a little disappointed that's all she wrote. (Only because I want more! More I tell you!)
just finished this and enjoyed it. Story itself seemed logical , grounded and realistic to me. Evidence made sense, actions of characters made sense to me (rare for detective genre). Also had some hard to pinpoint charm to it that made me finish it in one sitting. Do recommend.
A fun but short game in which you profile a serial killer. Had me engaged all the way through and coming up with my own insane theories as to who the culprit was.
Short and sweet A tricky and satisfying mystery. I would love to see a followup
