The Blessing of Airon

I picked this up because the premise sounded cool and the screenshots looked great. Full disclosure, I received a key for free, but I’m reviewing it as I experienced it. The Blessing of Airon is basically a walking sim set in a future where electronic devices have become possessed by something called the Neural Demonic Phenomena. You play as a priest investigating a deserted research facility after some boys from your congregation go missing. The setup is interesting, and the mix of religion and corrupted technology works well for horror. Gameplay is very straightforward. You walk around, interact with objects, solve a couple of light puzzles, and read. And I mean a lot of reading. Nearly everything has text attached to it in the first half of the game. The writing is actually pretty good and sometimes funny, but it can feel like you’re stopping constantly to read logs instead of playing. If you enjoy deep lore and slow exploration, you’ll probably like this. If not, it might drag. Atmosphere is one of the stronger points. I feel like this game has potential but it was way too buggy for me. I had to restart the game 5 or 6 times because there was text stuck on the screen after opening and closing the menu, journal, or clicking on something that added text to the screen. The game also crashed for me towards the end and when I went to go back and regain all the progress I lost, I found that a door was locked that was previously open, and that I basically had to restart most of the game in order to progress. I gave up at that point and did not finish the game. If there are updated to fix these bugs, I feel like this would be a decent indie horror game.

This was a fun horror walking sim experience. Very interesting story and premise. Would love to see this expanded!

Game was fun and interactive, very thriller-esque style with puzzles that make ya think but not impossible to figure out. (Aside from a few bugs that could be fixed by restarting the game, [spoiler] and near when you climb up the ladder at the end and decide to walk all the way back to reenter the first door to the underground area, you will be stuck and forced to complete the puzzle rooms again. [/spoiler] ) Game did feel like it was a tad short but overall if you love lore and enjoy a good surprise from time to time. Also has a chance for some re-playability or speedrunners. Would def love too see more to content to come, maybe some side stories or more scenarios that dive more into the lore and what happened to my daughter?
