The Company Man

Not particularly long, but still longer than it should be, thanks to pretty unforgiving hitboxes, lengthy sections of levels that have nothing of interest, the player character's melee range being too short, and real ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ checkpoint placement. I'm not bad at games. I like Fromsoft's stuff and have beaten several of them, so this isn't a case of me needing to git gud, it's just bad and annoying level design. If you could dash past enemies, or if they didn't do damage on contact, that would alleviate SOME of the issues, but it would still be difficult to recommend. It feels like a video game that would be in a mid-90's sitcom in terms of the concept and art style (it does look pretty nice, albeit repetitive), but that's just about all it has going for it.

The game was mentioned in our local newspaper and sound interesting. So I bought it but the game kept crashing at the introduction stage and couldn't proceed. After number of failed attempts, I had no choice but have to ask for refund. Sad....

I thought the game would be much better due to its good aesthetics and themes, but it was quite disappointing to actually play the game. I've just 100%ed it in hard mode and even then it felt really bland gameplay-wise.

A solid hack n slash platformer. The art style is appealing and combat satisfying, though the ending boss was a let down and the emotional notes of the story don't hit quite as hard as they should. All in all, a good way to kill a few hours.

After getting my keyboard handling and wireless carry registration I can now legally shoot my co-workers strongly worded emails. 8/10

I feel like this game had two different people at the helm, on one hand some of the animations, designs, and gimmicks were really fun and interesting. I think the lawyer and marketing levels were particularly good. On the other hand a lot of the enemies felt sloppy, the sound design and music were particularly lackluster and I feel like the bosses in particular were either exceptionally easy or had one or two attacks that would hit out of nowhere (I'm looking at you Boba). Overall, I felt like the game had a lot of potential but lacked a whole lot of polish. It was also REALLY short, I wasn't particularly trying to go very fast through the game and I blew through it in under 5 hours. For a game with a $16 pricetag I was expecting a little more. I wouldn't call it a bad game, if you're looking for a pretty easy platformer with some interesting level design maybe give it a try. I just can't recommend it unfortunately.
