About THE ENIGMA MACHINE

\

Have you ever wondered... what goes on inside the mind of an android?

WELL, THE ENIGMA® CORPORATION invites you to step into the DREAMSCAPE.

With DREAMSCAPE, we can represent the mind of an AI through an interactive 3D environment that we can explore! Get to know your new AI best friend inside and out via the DREAMSCAPE terminal interface, as they help you through this simulation.

\

Note that a DREAMSCAPE is a reflection of an AI's mental state, and that exploring the mind of a contaminated AI could yield unpredictable results.
However, there is no need to worry. as this recruitment exercise is only a simulation of what a real DREAMSCAPE would look like.

THE ENIGMA MACHINE is a short first-person sci-fi horror puzzle game that aims to capture the obscurity and unpredictability of games of old, framed within an increasingly unsettling presentation.

FEATURING:
  • A unique fusion of glitchy mid-90's 3D graphics and VHS effects with more modern graphical effects for a distinctive visual style.
  • A series of puzzles which force you to think outside the box.
  • A blend of traditional first-person controls combined with point-and-click mechanics for satisfying interaction with the world.
  • A story that could only be told through the medium of games
  • AVERAGE PLAY TIME: 60-90 MINUTES
  • \

THIS EXERCISE FEATURES FLASHING LIGHTS AND PATTERNS WHICH MAY POTENTIALLY TRIGGER SEIZURES FOR PARTICIPANTS WHO SUFFER FROM PHOTOSENSITIVE EPILEPSY.

(One last thing. The game isn't over until the credits roll.)

Great game. I'm very scared. Haven't even finished it yet. Should definitively give it a shot. I'm so scared.

Short 1hr game, a few simple puzzles, but a lot of worldbuilding and flavor. I found the experience pretty fun. Overall, a very cool and interesting game that left me looking forward to playing the rest of the trilogy. However, I had to use NVIDIA Control Panel to limit my refresh rate to 60Hz in order to actually finish the game. A major mechanic will be bugged if you do not do this. Super annoying and ruined the great immersion that the game did so well to build up. Apart from that, I don't have any complaints.

This game has a bug that prevents you from finishing the game unless you change your refresh rate.

Short and horrible. In an incredible way. The visuals are just so much, very hard to look at, and the sounds can get very loud. The whole experience was disorienting and disturbing. Not at all suitable for people sensitive to headache inducing glitchy visuals. But it was incredibly effective with its unsettling and weird atmosphere. I enjoyed the simple puzzles, the storytelling, and the inventive approach to horror. I feel like the money grabbing slop of real life AI has sort of ruined its use as a powerful storytelling tool about humanity, consciousness and agency. This is a story about that, not a creatively bankrupt consumer product that somebody has churned out using AI. Big difference. Top tier creativity in this piece of art! EDIT My game ran very smoothly, but apparently there is a bug that people can experience if their screen refresh rate is set above 60fps. If you set your monitor refresh rate to 60hz or below, and possibly also play in windowed mode, you hopefully will not encounter this issue.
