In A Nutshell
The Great Story of a Mighty Hero (GSMH from now), is a parody hack and slash RPG with marked humor elements, tons of easter eggs, plenty of gore, huge hordes of enemies, and generally a quick-paced, easy to learn gameplay that adapts well to a short game like this. The game talks, as the title suggests, the story of an hero, going against a mighty evil that plagues the land. The game world is quite small and divided in two main areas, each having a tavern, where you can buy food (used to regain health). weapons, and magical consumables to help you in battle. Other noteworthy areas consist in dungeons, each leading to a Boss, generally having a piece of armor, shield, or weapon, to improve your character further. There also are some hidden areas with optional fights and rewards around the world, if you explore well enough. Your character will feature a basic HP and MP interface, and also level up when getting enough XP from defeating enemies. Killing foes is the only source of XP, as there are no quests in this game. Mowing down hordes of enemies, progressively getting bigger and bigger as you advance, will be your routine, using basic attacks and a "speci…23 found this helpful
I didn't even have to play the game a half hour to realize I've seen it all, and what I have experienced is quite dull, unpolished, and lacking. But there are some positives. Visually, the game is pretty nice looking. The textures and lighting fit the game nicely. The music is humorous and amusing for a bit, but it's quite repetitive and uninspired and smacks of amateur skill and minimal effort. The gameplay is boring. Very boring. I've rushed through the game and there's no hope in sight that combat will suddenly "unlock" so that there's more depth, more variation, or more of anything interesting. This game is really boring, and the combat is a large part of it and it simply does not shine. I haven't enjoyed it. The item system is simple, which isn't bad in and of itself. But acquiring items and gold can be quite annoying. Food items that drop from enemies drift away in seemingly arbitrary directions and despawn quickly (why?), so it's a chore to chase down the food while being hacked at by enemies, only to lose a lot of the items anyway. Plus, the food can be whacked away by you when you're swinging your sword, which is amusing the first time and then a nuisance from then on. …15 found this helpful
Welcome to a world where death is no more, where the dead rise and torment the world. As the world has been almost completely overtaken, you arrive through the portal and the prophecy that has been foretold begins. You must take on the army of the undead and beat the incredible evil that has nearly destroyed the world. You must venture into the world and locate hidden treasures to give you the weapons and armor you need to be ready for the evil that awaits you! You will gather coins and food dropped by your enemies, along with gathering treasure located around the world. Use the food to heal your character, and the coins to purchase upgrades and additional food when needed. Journey forth and defeat the incredible evil and return death to the world. The Great Story of a Mighty Hero - Remastered is the second title on Steam by developer, DeanForge, and was self-released in June, 2018. Being a remastered edition, you can expect updated graphics over the original release on Desura in Jan, 2015. The game is an Action, Hack & Slash, Indie, RPG Title that I would also tag as Casual. You will speak to Merchants and People in town to learn the whereabouts of mystical weapons and armor to p…10 found this helpful
I'll say right out that this if there was a Okay rating this game would get it but it isn't bad just simple. It's visually very nice with a good style and a jaunty fun atmosphere and several silly things that happen to keep it interesting, even if there is quite a few grammatical errors It's gameplay is really insubstantial as it doesn't evolve past much more than button mashing excluding a few consumables so its not really that fun gameplay wise but the charm the game has makes it work somewhat. see if you can get it on sale2 found this helpful
Sorry while this game has a lot of promise, it didn't have much to offer. The story is lacking in depth and context and doesn't envelope the gameplay with purpose, not to mention the questions left every time you complete an objective. NPCs are barely interactive, just a little more than a stop sign to read on. The gameplay itself is solid but straightforward, though it doesn't offer any challenge or excitement. Kill the mob, collect the gratuitous loot, move on. Scaling between the final boss and the common rabble of bosses is very sudden, from enemies you can whack a few dozen times to completely exhausting your arsenal at the very last stretch. Taverns are a nice but redundant touch since everything is either already in your inventory, or way above your coin's worth. The UI has very little access, and little to no room for adjustments to make you feel right at home. The graphics are masterfully made, though only compact enough to cover the immediate area. The designs are simplistic and are effectively able to convey the setting with the characters perfectly standing out from the gloomy environment. The music isn't outstanding, but isn't out of place either. the subtle musi…2 found this helpful
Check out my Steam Curator page, "Minorthreatt Gaming Reviews." I have the most organized and extensive genre lists on Steam! Reminds me of some old PS2 games I liked. Casual, hack and slash adventure. Sort of makes fun of itself and the genre. My first impression was that the first weapon you have is horrible, and I died 5 or 6 times in a row just trying to beat the first area in the graveyard. You are just so underpowered, and I didn't get the feeling that leveling up was going to make enough of a difference, and I didn't know that upgraded weapons would be awarded for beating bosses. It felt discouraging and wasn't much fun because there wasn't any strategy other than to use a special attack, run away until it went off cooldown, special attack again and repeat. Honestly I shut it off after 10 mins and checked the reviews of the game to see if I was missing something, and others had all seemingly had more luck. So I booted it up again, and st…2 found this helpful
