About The Hollow
The end of the 1960s. The GULAG system was abolished during Khrushchev's time, but not for everyone. The most dangerous were sent to ‘Zaslon’ - a secret place in Siberia where the Soviet Union kept its best scientists and dangerous prisoners who were disloyal to the regime, and they rebelled under the leadership of former aviation engineer Mnogogrishny, gaining illusory independence for themselves. You are Morok, the son of one of the scientists who developed a secret weapon here based on a special mineral, tungsten, which is only found here. Your task is to figure out what kind of weapon it is and who has it! ZaslonZaslon is the last GULAG on earth. And now it is controlled by its former prisoners. These are three nations that resisted communist rule, but one of them decided that it was better than the other two. Behind "Zaslon", the usual laws of nature and physics do not apply. And you cannot carry a lot of metal here, which is why only human labour was used here.Anomalous territory — anomalous phenomena!"Zaslon" is not subject to the standard laws of physics, because a meteorite once fell on this spot, changing the territory beyond recognition. Magnets with different polarities appeared in the rock, giving rise to ‘Petryks’ — flying stones that hover in the air and seem to whisper something. Here, one of the local peoples suffers from nightmares that were only described in their legends. And here lies the key to world domination, which no one yet knows how to use.Not only the surroundings change in the game, but also the natural conditions. The game features both fog and rain with thunderstorms. Depending on the weather, you can sit by the fire to wait out the dark night or approach people to see if they are human at all.You can choose from five types of weapons to help you in your investigation. All of them are the result of people living behind "Zaslon", and all weapons here, except for one, are locally produced. There have never been any problems with this, because the cream of the occupied nations is hidden here.On the way to your goal, you will encounter both people who are hostile towards you and mysterious entities that have only been described in legends. And you will learn the secret of the appearance of the last GULAG on earth - "Zaslon".During the game, you will encounter not only different heroes and characters, but also different cultures that, under the conditions of ‘Zaslon’, have moved from descriptions and legends into reality. And it is these cultures that will reveal the main secret to you.Your task will be to eliminate enemies who are carrying out sabotage, to carry out similar sabotage against them, and to help your own people gain the key to true freedom, which cannot be obtained behind "Zaslon".In the game, you will encounter:-The beautiful nature of Siberia;-Encounters with historical figures who were a threat to the communist regime;-5 types of weapons to destroy your enemies;-A storyline based on a popular adventure novel;-2000s-style graphics; You will fight for the fate of your people by any means necessary. You will see that even in the midst of horror, beauty can blossom. And you will witness the war of those whose states have long since ceased to exist. You will experience the essence of "Zaslon" for yourself. Remember that your motto now is: ‘Better to live running than to rot alive!’

What can I say? I’ve never been a big fan of indie games, but I believe it’s important to support projects developed by fellow countrymen, especially when they’re not widely known. The voice acting is excellent, and the developers managed to capture all the possible layers of trolling directed at Russians. The game isn’t very long, but that actually works in its favor - I’m not sure I’d want to play it for 10 hours. It’s a perfect one-time story-driven experience. The graphics are decent for an indie title, but the lighting is a real issue. Nighttime seems to take up more than 70% of the gameplay, and it’s often extremely difficult to see anything, even with a lighter. At times, it’s also hard to figure out where a mission actually begins. Kudos for the allusion to the Green Ukraine (Zelenyi Klyn) and for highlighting the legacy of Ukrainian engineers. Not many people know that Soviet missile and aviation programs were largely built by Ukrainian specialists, often under brutal conditions, including in the GULAG system. Special thanks for the opportunity to meet Levko Lukyanenko. And yes - the Vykhor gun has excellent animation. Great job overall. Keep going.9 found this helpful
