The Last Bee

"The Last Bee" is a badly made 2D retro precision/puzzle platformer. Yep, one of literally thousands of these infesting Steam, but at least this time the developer isn't trying to get your money for it. What do you do in the game? This game has you controlling a bee or whatever, but it's hard to tell, because all the game art is done in MS-Paint. Jump around, avoid lasers... none of this makes any sense. It's no wonder this was a failure. As mentioned, the game features really lacklustre 2D MS-paint tier visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Игровой процесс прост, но при этом захватывает: собирая нектар и опыляя последние цветы, чувствуешь себя важной частью хрупкой экосистемы. Визуальный стиль – минималистичный и атмосферный, музыкальное сопровождение идеально дополняет ощущение одиночества и надежды. Управление плавное и приятное, а прогрессия – хоть и ненавязчивая – мотивирует исследовать мир дальше. Сюжет подается не в лоб, а через визуальные подсказки и ощущения, позволяя игроку самому интерпретировать происходящее. Несмотря на кажущуюся простоту, игра поднимает важные вопросы об экологии и ценности каждой, даже самой маленькой жизни. Если ищете спокойный и вдумчивый опыт, который заставит задуматься – 'The Last Bee' отличный выбор.
