‎The Last Blade series (especially the sequel) is widely considered to be quite sad and melancholic due to its tragic storyline and bittersweet ending . While it is a fighting game, the narrative depth focuses on themes of loss, sacrifice, and the unfairness of life during the Bakumatsu era of Japan. ‎Why I like and recommend this one so much? ‎Well you better sit back and chillax, let me explain it thoroughly. ‎ ‎The game's tone is reinforced by its artistic presentation. Especially the stages nuances and soundtrack—some featuring only the sound of howling wind and rustling leaves—create a sense of desolation and loneliness. ‎The game is known for its somber and elegiac tone. Piano-esque is heavily used to evoke a sense of lonesomeness and gravity, moving away from the "high-energy" arcade music typical of the 90s toward a more cinematic and emotional score. ‎which is the total selling points for me to enjoy it more than Samurai Shodown did. It what makes The Last Blade so unique. ‎Though to be fair; I still love both series in their own pixelated versions, even to this day and era. ‎ ‎>Key Production Milestones: ‎Samurai Shodown / Spirits (1993): ‎-Debuted on the Neo Geo as SNK'…

This game is incredible! I can't judge how good or bad the port is since I never played it on og arcade but I must say its very playable and experienced worse from by far newer titles. Even online play is at least regionwise fine so far. The only thing that bothered me at times was the game crashing. The game itself is a basic fighter with a small but rich in variety roster. Every char feels, plays and looks completely different. You have a 4 button based layout with 2 weapon attacks, a kick and a parry, all kinda nice balanced and very fun to play. It's deeper then it might sound in the first place. There are also flashy specials and some funny japanese snk stuff. The most important thing to point out here is the atmosphere and the style. It has that drunken master vibe to it wich I absolutely adore! I didnt play anything else like this. Maybe samurai shodown, but even that one differs alot from this game here. Most of all in its artstyle! The content is not that packed but for 10 or the 2 or 3 bucks on discount you cant do no wrong at all here! Big recommend for fg fans 08/10

This is a fighting game classic that I never got to play, but always wanted to. Now I have and I was pretty happy with it. While it's not my favorite SNK fighting franchise, it does carry the quality of the others, and had I had as much time playing this one in the past, it might have ranked as high for me as Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting. And who knows, now that I own it, it might reach those heights for me over time.

game runs like ♥♥♥♥ doesn't even hold 60 fps. the game runs at a horrible 57 fps like old school mk games. still better on fightcade. I would've refunded if not for it being only $1.60.

Playing at native/workable resolution requires user action in operating system properties to override the application's attempts to override native resolution. Controller support as long as your controller is connected via cable hardware and not in wireless mode. Achievements for multiplayer mode a cute idea, but they mean online multiplayer for this niche 1999 SNK fighter. Good luck finding P2.
