It is due time for a review. LLOS is as pure a game as it gets. Do not get deceived by its perceived simplicity, for that is but a symptom of no fluff. Instead it makes full use of what is and utilises every quality to create new situations with established set pieces. As the player has already encountered these ingredients, the result is a quick grasping of fresh interactions. This means that there is no need for unnecessary pop ups or handholding; the game respects the player. Instead, the mechanics and characteristics of the game are taught through expertly designed levels - one of its biggest strengths. These levels keep delivering new ideas and ways to challenge the player, while still feeling fair. The punishment for failure is also failure itself, so the flow of the experience rarely gets interrupted. This is all tied together with a gorgeous atmosphere and rich soundscape. My personal favorite is the cute running tippy taps. The Lost Light of Sisu is not an AAA blockbuster, but it is a masterclass in game design and that less is, in fact, more.
