About The Maw

✦ AI summary

Guide the endearingly gluttonous alien blob Maw through eight puzzle-filled levels, using his ability to absorb traits from creatures he devours to overcome obstacles and grow to monstrous proportions. This charming buddy-comedy adventure blends quirky humor, creative puzzles, and dynamic creature-powered abilities as you and your voracious companion work together to escape the universe.

The pinnacle of alien evolution, Maw is a cowardly fat blob concerned mostly with snacking and lounging. He can, however, absorb the traits of anything he eats, is virtually indestructible, and can grow to unlimited size. If he wasn't a danger to all life in the universe, he'd make the perfect pet. In this action/adventure game, he's the best friend of our hero Frank, and only by working together can Maw eat their way to freedom. The Maw was honored with the Audience Choice Award in the 2008 PAX-10 showcase of independent games, and is a finalist at this year's Independent Games Festival for Technical Excellence.

I got this sometime in 2013 as a collab with mcdonalds. kinda tells you that the game wont be crazy good quality, but its still a fun game. I still had fun reliving this goofy game with a surprisingly good soundtrack. the game is like a dollar when its on sale so don't expect much. the artstyle and character design is still top tier though. this wont be for everyone but its still worth trying. rip twisted pixel studios they got screwed over by meta.

I played this game a ton on the Xbox 360. I randomly thought about it recently and found it on steam. I really love this game, i love maw, calling for maw is ingrained into my mind.

100% The Maw on 4/11/2022. This is a classic Xbox Arcade game and is essentially an Eat-and-Grow game; however, this game does have a level structure with a fixed size to achieve per level. There are various upgrades that modify gameplay and a story to keep you engaged. Become a friend of Maw and help him NOT destroy humanity while trying to escape your captors. Nostalgia worked quite well for me. I got all achievements on the Xbox 360 and I was definitely going to do it again on steam.

The Maw is a pretty short and charming platformer game with puzzles, but with a handful flaws. I really like the animations and the concept, feeding a little monster and getting them powered up by the things they eat is pretty interesting! Although it's also quite bizarre, considering we help Maw to extinct entire species and eventually devour an entire planet lmao. Not all of the power ups are fun to use unfortunately, and some more variety was really needed. Still, I had a fair amount of fun with the balloon and the beetle powers, which actually add interesting movement to the gameplay. The stages aren't the most clever and can feel very repetitive, the fact that our character walks so slow and has such a pathetic jump doesn't help at all. With bad platforming and camera controls, this game is really hard to recommend nowadays, but I still think it's quite alright and well suited for younger audiences if you really don't have another option, since you can't even die or lose in this game.

I loved this game as a casual break from more story or combat intense games. it's simple its not super long. Just eat stuff and grow. Give this a shot if your looking for a short, casual, game.
