The Test: Reimagined

I only played the first game in the series before trying to play this one. I liked the first game, but this one is honestly crappy, so much that I didn't even finish it. What I didn't like about this game: - The tone. For this game, it looks like they try to sound more mysterious, more edgy, but it just sounds silly and brakes all the immersion of the game. This is true for both the kind of questions, and the way they're framed. - AI art. They say no AI stuff was left untouched, but most of the art looks pretty much AI to me. The most noticeable is the water, it's just really bad. - Animated intro. The first game allows you to control the pace, and this one just flows by itself. I agree that it isn't as important when you have a voiceover, but it still is a bit annoying. Can't recommend it, even if it's on sale.

Personally not a fan of the text to speech, it was much too slow and distracting from both ambience and my own reading. And while the process of questions was still enjoyable and thought provoking, and the tarot cards intriguing as a concept... It's the most detached and unpersonal ending I experienced throughout The Test series. If you decide to play it I do recommend turning off the text to speech unless you feel like it helps you. Regardless, if any of the cards spoke to me, it was the Thread Keeper.

I've bought this game less then 3 hours ago, finished it in 1 and a half. I cannot describe how amazing it is. As the developers said themselves, this feels as a very important experience, rather then a game. I have played the original "The Test", and they have build on top it immensely. Although it takes time to adjust to the style of questions, sooner or later you do adjust, and then begins an immersion you (at least I) haven't experienced before in a game. The Music is a banger, the art style is very authentic, and the notators voice is just mwah. I wish I learned about this game sooner, since so many things that it just outright told me I have spent years figuring out in myself. Anyways, as I finished the game one card resonated with me the most: The Tuner. The first one I got, and the most mind-opening one (out of 5 they provide). Thank you developers for such an experience, please make more))))

The Test: Reimagined operates on the same premise as its predecessors, whilst offering a new twist. It is yet again centered around learning more about oneself, yet it's more guided towards a deeper analysis of character, given the fact that the ending doesn't focus merely on one outcome altogether, but separates it into five distinctive categories each focusing on unique aspects of being. Another new added feature is the voice narration. Personally, I think it's something I needed to get a little used to (even though Brandon Thatcher did a marvelous job), since I prefer to be left in silence when reading and pondering the questions. I do have to point out though, that I liked it most at the end, since it gave me a much better sense of closure, than the previous games in the series did. Yet, there was one thing I didn't really like, that being the usage of AI art. I respect the drive to do so as ethically as possible (using only images Randumb studios have a commercial right to use, but it merely seems to be quite redundant to try and alter the hand-made results with AI, when the original artworks suffice more than enough. As someone who works/has worked in 911, the card The Keyed Voice resonates with me a lot. It is hard to always find the right thing to say, but I always aim to be someone to lean on in times of distress. My cards read me to filth, and I needed to hear it. Great job as always Randumb!
