About The Wailer

The Wailer is a highly stylized horror adventure game set in the depths of an ancient dungeon. With torch in hand, explore and find a way to escape before falling prey to the unspeakable horror that lurks within.

Delve into a dark and mysterious dungeon. Discover secrets and uncover hidden passageways as you explore. Find the way out before the darkness consumes you. The dungeon is also filled with challenges and obstacles, so players must be vigilant and use all the resources at their disposal. With every twist and turn, players will come closer to unraveling the mysteries of the dungeon and ultimately, escaping.
Light plays a crucial role in the gameplay as it not only helps the player navigate and uncover secrets but also protects them from the darkness that threatens to consume them. Be warned, the safety of the light comes at a price.
Hello! I am Ethan Robichaux and I solo developed this game over 6 months. At the time of The Wailer releasing I am a college student and I create games in my free time. This is my 3rd full Steam game and first fully 3D game. This game is completely free because I want as many people as possible to be able to play and enjoy the game I worked very hard on!What Steam players say

It's great, but pretty hard without a map, especially the final stage. If you're having trouble just think of it more as a puzzle game where you're trying to manipulate an ai. also i think people think they need the torches lit at all times but you only need it for one thing and you'll know what it is when it happens. aside one puzzle you can beat this running around like a madman in the dark just fine. holy crap did i scare myself but it was worth it. id love a whole game in this style with added lore, mechanics and checkpoints though. atmosphere and sound design are peak.
SO AWESOME
.
haven't even finished this one yet and already having a blast. this game made me bust out pen and paper to draw a map for myself and i got jumpscared REAL BAD while looking down at it to remember where i was going, 10/10 no notes lol
Poor performance, slow camera, zero options for that, zero graphics options, indistinct mazelike level design. It was the latter that kept me from continuing playing. That kind of level is designed to waste your time. That's something only I have the right to "waste", not a level. Between actual maze games and dungeon crawlers, there are better, less indistinctively circular, more fun mazes to navigate. Not just that, the level design's being like his incentivizes you to sprint tirelessly, which defeats the horror thematic. If you want a free horror game with a quantized NPR style similar to, but better than, this, play KACH (2022).
