✦ AI summary

Players praise the game's strong atmosphere, creative blending of 2D and 3D gameplay, compelling storytelling, and multiple endings that reward replays, with many impressed by what the indie team accomplished. However, several criticize the platforming controls as buggy and frustrating, noting issues with double jumps, dashes, and wall grabs not functioning reliably, and some find the 3D sections weaker than the polished 2D portions; controller play is recommended over keyboard to mitigate control issues.

I don't leave reviews often but I really felt compelled to for this. The platforming sequences are inexcusably bad to the point of making me rage quit. If this were anything other than an indie project from someone who is obviously very passionate I would have refunded the game out of spite, but I want to support the developers for what they clearly poured a lot of time and effort into. For future reference though, try to limit your scope unless you're CONFIDENT you can do it well, or else you're just going to make something that is worse as a whole. The platforming sequences have sloppy and buggy controls, with double jumps or dashes being cancelled or unusable if you encounter a platform above you or in front of you, or wall grabs just not working for some reason. The hitboxes on every sprite are twice as big or half as big as you would expect, causing you to swing and miss your attacks over and over. The respawn system can just trap you in infinite death loops where you will spawn actively falling off a platform, and once or twice I would walk into a room and immediately be hit by an obstacle. The
Dark Lord
boss fight is by far the worst example in the gam…

Great game. Good story telling, good voice acting, good visuals, good horro aspect, definetly beat my expectations with the Hollow Knight like gameplay.

THEM is a short horror experience from Lexip that blends 2D and 3D gameplay as you move through an unsettling narrative with multiple possible endings. It leans on atmosphere, perspective shifts, and choice rather than long playtime or complex mechanics. Pros ✔️ The mix of 2D and 3D works really well - The way the game shifts between styles is effective and feels intentional, especially in how it supports the horror. ✔️ Multiple endings - Your choices change the ending and it gives you a reason to see more than one outcome. ✔️ Strong overall tone - The game delivers, which helps it land even in a short runtime. Cons ❌ The 2D sections completely outshine the 3D ones - The 2D parts feel tighter and more effective, making the 3D sections feel weaker by comparison. ❌ It’s very short - You can get through it quickly, which may leave you wanting more. ❌ The AI elements stand out in a bad way - You can tell what was made with care versus what leaned on AI, and because the rest of the game looks so good, those parts really stick out. Conclusion I liked this quite a bit. It felt like a well-made, focused little horror game that knew its limits and didn’t overstay its welcome. It worked …

Short and creepy. Quality jump scares and chilling atmosphere. Play with a controller. The jump is too difficult with a keyboard.

This game is super impressive. It’s two (maybe three?) games in one. For the price of a coffee you’re getting a work of art. Well done to the team behind it. I need new underwear.
