[h1]How thirsty are you?[/h1] So this game is a weir done but in a good way. Small indie game done right. You play as Jala who comes back to her parents and faces all her ex-es. It's hilarious, fun and has a deeper meaning. While most of the game is silly the story is about generational trauma passed from parents to their kids and how to escape the curse. It really was quite emotional. But everything is presented in a silliest way possible. Gameplay consists of battles against suitors and ex-es, skating and cooking. So combat first. It's very basic jrpg style turn based combat with a fun twist. You attack with words and enemy's words can also debuff you. Each attack you pick how to respond emotionally (angry, thirsty, raging, etc.) and if that phrase is the weakness the enemy get a debuff and is prone to more damage. Enemies do exactly the same. While attacking and defending you also perform qte's. While it seems really fun and makes you laugh at first, the combat becomes very repetitive after some times. Except for the bosses. Works perfectly on the Steam Deck. I enjoyed this game a lot! Pretty fun to learn a little about Indian culture and foods. Game is very LGBTQ+ supportive and I liked that. Boss battles were fun but the smaller, individual battles felt like a chore for some reason. Overall I'd recommend this game!

Had a fun time playing though the game, would definitly recommend if you like story games and some good laughs. the skateboarding part felt clunky and the quick time events can become a bit tiresome. but overal a fun game and can recommend

gameplay is fun and unique, even if the battles are a little slow on occasion. the story and characters were a delight to follow. though it's a "break-up simulator" i really loved the relationship between Jala and her family. heightened psychodrama through a distinct cultural lens, an engaging treat!

Thirsty Suitors is underrated as hell. First, the obvious. It's got a really nice cel-shaded artstyle with heavy comic book inspiration, and it makes me feel this game is going to age extremely well in that department. Secondly, the score is amazing. A few themes are quite subdued and less impactful but those that are, they really make the ambiance pop. My favorite has to be Diya's battle theme. Then, there's the writing. This is the game's strongest aspect, and by far. These characters are all messed up in some way about our queer protagonist, Jala, and they don't hold anything back in this messy break up simulator-esque story. Jala herself is quite fascinating as well, with a great deal of growth over the course of the story. The story itself is quite strong in the Scott Pilgrim vibes, but here you don't beat up a lover's evil exes, no. You just have extremely dramatized arguments with Jala's exes in the aim of fixing her past mistakes, which is a very good concept. I especially loved the focus on Jala's main relationship with Tyler, and how it's written. Sadly, compared to that, the whole Soundie storyline ends up feeling a bit too much like padding, but it's not too bad. As…
