I made this game! Bardic Quest for Love is definitely a heartfelt game with a lot of personality and charm. It's primarily a visual novel dating sim, but there are choices with dice elements, a walking around RPG-esc aspect, a Tavern Management Sim Minigame, and partial voice acting! It's super wholesome and super funny, and although its a little handmade in quality in some areas, it's definitely a small treasure of a game I really enjoyed playing (and playing, and replaying).5 found this helpful
I held off on writing a review on this one, but after bouncing off of it a few times now I just gotta say my piece. I think the art style and overall subject matter of the game is adorable and cute and has legs. The voice acting is genuinely pretty good and fun and fresh. That's all very, very good. The bad is the game is pretty buggy still - I had two crashes and a few times where the next dialogue box just would not go. And while the voice acting is good, the singing is... not so much. I can't sing myself, so no shade there, but in a game with musical numbers and about bards this really stands out and puts quite the damper on the experience. I think there is a gem here, through the rough. I think it's probably worth experiencing and I think the team behind it is wonderful and passionate. But in the binary option of "Do you recommend this game?" I have to say "no"- BUT, I still think it has charm and should be experienced. (As for my low playtime, I'm not sure what gives there. I played some on my laptop that doesn't seem to have registered? It should say about 3.5/4 hours).3 found this helpful
This is one of the most charming games I've ever played. You can tell this was made by people who just wanted to make something fun and cool, and even if there are technical issues that I can point out, I just had an absolute blast with it from start to finish! Honestly, I'd absolutely recommend this if you enjoy D&D or similar games, as this is clearly a love letter to the general vibe of it all!1 found this helpful
I believe any person who enjoys wholesome D&D content will enjoy this break from the typical game. I have enjoyed every minute playing!1 found this helpful
This game is so cute! And OMG the voice acting is stellar! It's a cute little cozy game with lots of different romancable characters! There are still updates for this game and I am so excited to have been able to showcase this game! The developer for this game is super sweet and friendly too!1 found this helpful
Bardic: Quest for Love is a visual novel and tavern-sim hybrid set in the fantasy city of Deepharbor. You play as Edmond or Edna, a bard who inherits a struggling tavern, works to bring it back to life, recruits a cast of colorful characters, and potentially finds romance along the way — all while making dialogue choices and participating in a pub management minigame. Pros: ✔️ Variety of characters – There are a solid dozen romanceable folks, each with distinct personalities and backgrounds. ✔️ Voice cast stands out – Most of the characters are voiced with clear, expressive performances that help bring them to life. ✔️ Instrumental compositions are enjoyable – The background music fits the tone well and creates a cozy, medieval tavern mood. Cons: ❌ Voice actors aren’t strong singers – In a game about bards and music, I expected the vocal performances to feel more polished for a singing-heavy theme. ❌ Some animations feel jarring – A few character movements and transitions felt stiff or out of sync with the tone. ❌ Music feels dated — Some tracks remind me of MIDI-esque quality. For a game themed around songs and performance, it missed an opportunity for richer instrumentation. …
