Throw Me in the River

I was left a tad confused and wanting more from Throw Me in the River but the ride was a good one. You’re basically reliving a dying man’s moments from his life. I ended up with more questions at the end then when I started but I still enjoyed the story. The visuals were very well done and a style I don’t see used in Ren’Py much so it was nice to see something more unique than I’m used to. There were a good amount of choices to be had throughout. I played Throw Me in the River on Linux using Valve’s Proton. It never crashed on em and I didn’t notice any spelling errors. Alt-Tab didn’t work. I could manually save whenever I wanted and there were fifty four save slots for that. Simple yet powerful short story visual novel. There's an impressive amount of subtle branching here, and the design of the game and story flow, without spoiling anything, is really quite neat and not something I've seen before. Once you realize the unique way your choices impact future scenes, it feels pretty empowering to shape the story as you like. It's a moving storyline, has some distinct tonal variation depending on your choices while all feeling quite unified with a grounded and somewhat melancholy (but not TOO melancholy) feel, and the writing kept me totally immersed. Plenty of moments of lightness shine through too, depending on your choices. Loved it when I first played, love it even more now that I've replayed it years later (with the new update) and took a different path.

I liked the game. It seemed short but I only played it once. It's very artistic and has nice music. The visual elements are nice too. I wanted to play an interesting short game and I found it. It's fun and I think it was worth the price.

This is a great visual novel! The writing and the characters are well formed and match nicely with the art and music. Overall it was an emotional and contemplative experience, and the creator's commentary adds a lot of depth. Would definitely recommend.
