About Timbertales
Quick note from the developer:
Are you looking for a turn-based strategy game that offers something different—without the repetitive World War themes? Look no further! Timbertales is the game for you.Timbertales is a fantasy, turn-based strategy game set in a world where forest animals and insects battle for supremacy. With its unique nature-themed setting, Timbertales offers an exciting departure from the usual strategy tropes. Explore lush forests, face off in tactical battles, and discover a variety of races—more are coming soon!If you're considering purchasing Timbertales, please keep in mind that I’m a passionate strategy gamer and a solo indie developer. While I’ve poured my heart into the game, the campaign is shorter than you might expect from a AAA title, and the overall content isn’t as extensive. What I do offer is a solid, turn-based strategy game with fresh mechanics and a distinctive theme. Best of all, it comes at a price that’s less than what I’d spend on a coffee to go.I’m always eager to hear from you, so feel free to contact me directly or engage in the community hub. Your feedback is invaluable, and I’m excited to shape the future of Timbertales based on community input. Be sure to check the latest announcements for ongoing development updates!Fractions
Timbertales features two main factions: Vermin and Sylvans. Each faction consists of a variety of unique heroes, each with its own abilities and roles—ranging from ranged DPS to melee DPS, support, healing, and more.Campaign
The story mode of Timbertales introduces you to the Sylvans through a brief tutorial, a prologue, and their dedicated campaign. The Sylvan campaign consists of several missions, each designed to challenge your tactical skills. The Vermin campaign is coming soon!- Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Timbertales
- Tackle innovative mission objectives and challenges
- Complete missions to unlock special achievements
Challenges
In this unique game mode, you'll draft an army from limited options and face off against a progressively more difficult AI. Each victory increases the challenge level and your rewards.- Test your skills in a dynamic, ever-escalating challenge
- Earn epic rewards with each victory
- Climb the special challenge ranking
Spheres
Defeated units have a chance to drop special spheres, each with unique effects:- Healing Spheres: Restore health to your units
- Critical Strike Spheres: Increase critical strike chance for several rounds
- Acorn Point Spheres: Boost your acorn points, the in-game currency used to unlock features
Maps
The Challenge mode feature special maps with optional objectives. Completing these objectives can trigger events that offer strategic advantages in battle.Timbertales is inspired by classic strategy games such as:
- Battle Isle
- Battle World: Kronos
- Advanced Wars
- Battle for Wesnoth
- Jagged AllianceI wanted to create a game that evokes the feeling of the strategy games I loved growing up, but with a fresh twist—a unique nature theme and deep, challenging gameplay. Unlike 4X strategy games, Timbertales doesn’t involve producing new units during battle. Instead, it adopts a tabletop-like approach, where you must carefully plan and prepare your army before each battle begins. Each character in Timbertales has their own distinct abilities and playstyle. You’ll choose between standard attacks or using special abilities such as healing, curses, and powerful offensive skills. And stay tuned—more diverse abilities and heroes are on the way!
I am looking forward for your support, feedback and comments.

I've won this game through Steamgifts. Well I really have mixed feeling towards this title. The basic concept is somewhat nice, animals fighting each other using combos, and they have a bunch of stats that make them differ each other. Sadly although backed with kickstarter this game fails, it feels unfinished, feels like mobile port, and is still a bit bugged. The Sylvan campaign is interesting as it contains different goals, however additional goals feels unbalanced, some are really easy, why others looks completely impossible. Unfortunately that campaign is also short, for one evening only, We never got a vermin campaign. The game hung (on Linux!) once at the end, also once unit stayed on map visually, although got killed. The challenge mode, contains three modes, but only one is available, a series of 3-4 arenas that come at random where difficulty rises with each playthrough, until player fails and get rewards, to make it more interesting this mode for some strange reason request being online, once steam logs out due web activity, or while switching to offline mode this mode becomes unavailable. I never tested the multiplayer though, maybe it is fun. The deciding point was the…8 found this helpful
Can't complete the game due to server issues in a single player game... Apart from that, combat isn't exciting due to a lack of unit choices and tactical options. Useless "feature": Setting your home base at the start of each small map (doesn't grant any bonus, possible spawning points are all next to each other) Sprites are cute and the Factions (Mammals vs Insects) is a neat idea but that's not enough imho.4 found this helpful

tl;dr:A short turn-based strategy game in which cute mammals and birds duke it out against slightly less cute insects. The game has a short story mode, challenges as well as a multiplayer mode. Graphic wise, there is nothing to write home about, but the animals are without a doubt cute. Moving a bunch of badgers and squirrels around is way more fun to me than it should be ;) Audio is serviceable, but lacking in variety. The combat of the game is simplistic, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. This is definitely a game I would recommend for the younger ones, or those trying to get started with turn-based strategy games. The multiplayer mode was a mistake. The whole game concept is too simple and the scope too limited to really speak to the (extremely small to begin with) crowd of turn-based multiplayer players. Therefore adding all this online functionality seems like a totally wrong feature to spend dev time on, time that could have been spent on another campaign or different challenges. All in all, I wish there was more to the game, especially more story content. However, for the low price, I can definitely recommend it, You'll certainly get some hours of peacu…4 found this helpful
Timbertales s is a crowdfunded 2D turn based strategy game, but instead of fantasy armies fighting each other, or even WW1/WW2 armies, it's mammals and birds vs. insects because apparently that's what people wanted so badly that they crowdfunded it. The result is, well, a very mediocre TBS. The graphics are kind of okay, but not really what I'd call "Good". Gameplay is average, while there's a variety of different "units", the overall gameplay is very basic and uninteresting. People who want a good turn based strategy should think about Heroes of Might and Magic, or even a Paradox military strategy game. This one just isn't nearly as good as those, and the $14.50 price tag is just ludicrous.2 found this helpful
Too many bugs, I encounter crash and freeze for about 5 times during my 30 minutes playing. And I have to connect to the slow server even if I only play single player adventure... I cannot recomment this game.1 found this helpful
