Tobe’s Vertical Adventure is a charming indie platformer that embraces the spirit of classic 16-bit games while introducing a unique gameplay structure centered on vertical exploration. Developed and published by Secret Base, the game follows the energetic adventurer Tobe and his treasure-hunting companion Nana as they journey through a series of dangerous caverns in search of riches. Although the premise is simple and lighthearted, it provides enough motivation to support an adventure focused primarily on platforming, collectibles, and exploration. What immediately separates Tobe’s Vertical Adventure from many traditional platformers is its emphasis on descending and climbing through large vertical stages. Each level tasks players with navigating downward through caves and hazardous environments to locate hidden treasure. Once the treasure is secured, the objective changes dramatically as players must race back to the surface before danger catches up with them. A short puzzle platformer that isn't really worth your time. Controls are the worst thing about this game. Overall its okay but nothing really worth your time.

Looks nice, but controls like a brick being tossed haphazardly through the tundra.
Short and sweet, reasonably priced for its length considering the two characters offer different playthroughs. This game does not handle like a lot of other platformers - you won't have as much freedom in the air as you may be used to, and the controls feel restrictive, but it's done with a purpose, as you must figure out how to navigate the environment efficiently without hurting yourself (there is fall damage too). Each character has their own pros and cons, making a subsequent run-through feel different even though the levels are the same. There is some jank and some occasional glitches, but nothing that really ruins the game. Cute game, fair for the price.
