About VVVVV
Story:
One day a sorcerer from the dark kingdom decided to gain power over gravity. With the help of alchemy, he made a potion of gravity and was captured by his own invention - the strength of the potion was so great that it consumed his planet. In the name of his salvation, the wizard sacrificed his soul to the altar, granting immortality and power over nature. His abode was destroyed, and then he created a powerful alliance, code-named V-Five, incorporating the five most dangerous and vicious creatures. They invaded our land and plunged the world into chaos. Nothing could resist them, only the power imprisoned in ancient monoliths. There is only one way to eradicate evil - to find the altar and free the Dark Spirit that is imprisoned in it.
VVVVV is a colorful, dynamic platform action with puzzle elements, made in retro style. You have to go through many obstacles, solving various puzzles. A considerable arsenal of weapons will come to your aid, which will turn the enemy into minced meat, as well as magic that will not let your enemies get bored. Use the acrobatic abilities of the protagonist to deftly and quickly overcome deadly traps, climb walls. But be careful: levels keep many secrets that you have to find. Carefully plan and calculate your actions in order to successfully reach the portal and not die 50 times along the way - at the hands of an enemy or a trap. Collect various items, potions and weapons that will help you and facilitate the difficult path, and some of them even allow you to change the vector of gravity and gain power over the air! Learn ancient monoliths to improve your skills or learn a new magic spell. You will also have exciting mini-shuttle air battles and bloody arena battles. And remember: donate to the demonic altar only when you are truly prepared for the consequences.
You are waiting for a long and exciting adventure for more than 6 hours of gameplay!

Don’t listen to the idiots who bought this game thinking it was VVVVVV (6 V’s), this is obviously something totally different. It feels a lot like a game that could be part of Nitrome from back in the Flash game days. Also, the regular game comes with the entire soundtrack in the install, don’t pay more for the soundtrack bundle (but you probably weren’t going to anyways). Nice soundtrack btw.5 found this helpful
VVVVV is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This shovelware platformer is an extraordinarily lazy effort with simplistic levels and platforming, it's basically a shovelware minimum viable product slapped together with a Java template. The name tells the whole story, this is an attempt to trick people into thinking it was VVVVVV, a completely different 2D retro pixel platformer. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic low quality art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the mediocre 2D visuals. The contr…4 found this helpful
cool pixelated platformer game to be honest, just really difficult and sometimes stages get a bit annoying, which is probably the charm of this game. negative reviews on this are mostly because the game has a very similar name to another game called VVVVVV, don't take those seriously3 found this helpful
VVVVVV, developed and published by Terry Cavanagh, is a puzzle platformer that builds its entire identity around a single, brilliantly simple idea and then explores that idea with remarkable depth. Instead of relying on traditional jumping mechanics, the game allows players to flip gravity, sending the protagonist, Captain Viridian, either to the floor or the ceiling. This one mechanic defines every moment of the experience, transforming what could have been a basic platformer into something far more inventive and demanding. The gameplay revolves around navigating a large, interconnected map made up of individual rooms, each functioning as its own self-contained challenge. Players move left and right while switching gravity to avoid hazards, primarily spikes, that instantly result in death upon contact. The controls are extremely simple, but the level design ensures that mastery is anything but easy. Precision and timing are critical, as many sections require carefully planned movements and quick reactions. Despite the high difficulty, the game remains approachable due to its generous checkpoint system, which places players right back into the action after each failure. This desig…2 found this helpful
