Touhou Shoujo Tale of Beautiful Memories / 東方少女綺想譚

This game simply makes me happy; my go to comfort game. Gameplay wise, it may be a carbon copy of Super Mario RPG, but this version of Gensokyo is just utterly charming. The dialogs are written with love for mostly every character, highlighting their positive sides. Everytime I play this game, I just feel happy. This is my absolute favorite Touhou fan game. (And it seems the game breaking bug is finally fixed, so you don't need a wolf-reader to change a name in the enemy files anymore)

SMRPG but with a lot of 2hu boobies

If i could leave a neutral review I would for this game. This game is a tribute to both Super Mario RPG, and Touhou. Overall I did have quite a lot of fun with this game in the early, and middle portions of the game. The story for the most part was interesting, and I loved just how many characters appear in this game. The art style overall is really nice and recreates that feel of Super Mario RPG quite well, as with Mario RPG this game too has parts that the isometric perspective just messes with me and makes platforming and such a challenge. The character art was insanely fan-servicey like holy moly, almost every character in the game has massive boobers, its honestly a bit over the top and I kept asking "Why is every character in this game so dang stacked?" lol. The battles for the most part are fine, I was able to get through pretty much the entire game on the Normal difficulty. The music is honestly just kind of whatever, like its not bad or anything but none of it was really all that memorable. More of a neutral game if anything. Story: The boundary being broken, the shards scattered across the land. This is about it for the story, there really isn't anything more to it, as in no type of proper focus. More of a point A to point B. System: It is supposed to be similar to Super Mario RPG, but kinda lacking halfway. In short, on the battle end you time your attacks or skills to do full damage, which is an extra animation. The problem, is that there isn't a hint, so you gotta guess until you get it right. When you level up, you get the usual stats and get to choose HP, physical or special to give an extra boost to. There are equipment used to navigate parts of stages. Side Quest: There are a few. Maps: Many Maps Music: Basically the same thing for the whole game aside from very few. Issue: The problem with this game is that, it eventually turns into an item spam. Given that you cannot effectively neutralize damage on the defending the turn. Let alone, even with certain equipment its still up to luck at that point. Then there is Yukari, for most of the game, there is a chance she is asleep for regular battles. As someone who beat Mario RPG as a kid, I'm so glad this exists, better characters and interactions and richer story and details than Mario RPG too, the only downside being there's not too many guides in English, and the platforming can be jank, I just saw it as a challenge though and got way better at it as the game progresses, I think it has a lot of replayability too, there's so many team members you can have for your party, and secret bosses etc, that makes replaying it fun with a different team. They're currently making a sequel as well to this game, I can't wait to play it, and if this one isn't for you, or too dated maybe, then I'd highly recommend waiting for the sequel.
