What Steam players say

Players praise the game's compelling detective premise, creative investigation mechanics that require careful exploration and logical deduction, and an interesting story with thought-provoking themes about human-robot coexistence. However, many criticize the AI's inconsistent and nonsensical responses during interrogations, with complaints that it either railroads players or fails to acknowledge their inputs, alongside some technical issues like bugged achievements. The game appeals to detective enthusiasts willing to engage with its innovative AI conversation system, but the unpredictable qua
The premise seemed promising, but the experience is just not fun. The AI's responses make no sense at all. At times it feels like a first time dungeon master trying to railroad you to a plot and then others it feels like a coworker who isn't listening to you but nodding and saying 'yeah' I would avoid and wish I could refund it.6 found this helpful
Really neat concept, you really gotta crawl around sometimes to find all the evidence, and get creative with the questioning of the robots. Easier to play on pc vs steam deck because you will type a lot. Interesting story and overarching themes. Doesn't seem that far off into the future. The only issue I have is 2 achievements are bugged, for playing for 300 and 450 minutes.1 found this helpful
Good writing and clever use of AI in gameplay.
Uncover the Smoking Gun is a futuristic detective adventure developed by ReLU Games, Inc. and published by ReLU Games, Inc. and KRAFTON, Inc. Set in a world where humans and highly intelligent robots coexist, the game immediately establishes a compelling premise through a series of mysterious murders that threaten the fragile relationship between both groups. Rather than relying on traditional adventure game mechanics, it places players in the role of an investigator tasked with uncovering the truth through careful observation, logical deduction, and direct interaction with robotic suspects. The result is a mystery experience that feels fresh, ambitious, and highly focused on the investigative process. The game's most distinctive feature is its conversation system. Instead of selecting dialogue options from a predefined list, players are encouraged to ask their own questions and conduct interrogations in a more natural way. This design creates a strong sense of immersion because every interview feels personal and unpredictable. Players must think like actual detectives, paying attention to details, remembering previous statements, and identifying inconsistencies in suspect testimo…
7/10 Only because i am incredily stupid at looking for all the clues and looking at everything. BUT other than that the underlying story was epic, i love the graphics and game mechanics. If you love detective/slightly horror styled games, play this.
First detective game with an AI I have played, and I though it was quite enjoyable. The gameplay loop boils down to three mechanics: - Finding physical clues - Interviewing robots (this is where the LLM comes in) - Arranging everything on a wall and literally connecting the dots. While this loop stays quite constant, every level adds some nice side mechanic to keep it fresh. The cases feel solvable (but require some mental work), and the game definitely does not overstay its welcome. If you are looking for a noir-like detective game that show cases the use of chat bots, I'd give it a go.
