Unforeseen Incidents

An adventure game that has aged even better with time. I played this in 2026 and themes like pandemics, conspiracies and a couple characters on both sides of the political aisles are depicted, without feeling exclusionary nor awkward in retrospect. Besides that it has a charming artstyle, very witty and funny characters and some of the greatest puzzles in these games, that both requires you to think, but you will very rarely need to look up a solution, a very hard balance to strike. A great game, that could stand toe to toe with the greats, if it was released in a time, where people appreciated this genre.

[b]Funny, exciting, and nicely puzzling.[/b] I had a really great time accompanying the likeable everyman Harper - who is equipped with an iconic multitool - on his adventure. The characters are convincing, the story is engaging, and the game world is so beautifully drawn - exploring it feels so rewarding. The atmosphere is just unique. Best point-and-click adventure in my collection.

Bottom line: 5/10, love the art style, story was pleasant and tied things up neatly, puzzles are such that you can semi-shut your brain off to play (perfect for winding down after work), game length is pleasant too, but gameplay was buggy. Get it on discount. To the team: please make more games and get even better! (Gotta admit I wouldn't have bought this if I didn't know Alastair Beckett-King worked on this. Followed him on YouTube for awhile. That said; I've got no regrets going through this game.) Pros: I have a soft spot for an art style like this. I really like the backgrounds the game has. Have screenshotted a couple to use as wallpapers. The puzzles are pretty alright, and don't suffer from classic point-and-click jank (pixel-hunting, item combinations that make zero sense). The fact you can highlight everything that's interactable is a huge plus (I thank you for respecting my time). Tbh I had to read a walkthrough at a couple points, but I'll chalk that up to a skill issue than a game design issue. I think the writing was pleasantly decent. I love me a good "Drink and Click" game. This one has a interesting, fun storyline; solid, snarky writing that's just long enough to allow laughing, thinking, and advancing without yawning; cool, rough-line, art style that adds nicely to the vibe; great voice acting done by - what sounds like - real pros; and easy to medium level puzzles that push you forward - not piss you off. I hit 8 hours and just began a new chapter near [spoiler] a library. [/spoiler] Buy it!
