Just to let others know; This game is a dead - Early Access game - tech demo at best - be warned, very very little content.7 found this helpful
Right now it's a demo for 15 dollars. Kinda ridiculous. Took less then 15 mins to do both "levels". The 2nd level is a texture mess and looks like ♥♥♥♥. Gameplay is fun but buggy as hell. It can't decide how it wants you to aim your "weapon" when your controllers are turned on. Works great with HMD aiming but that's about it.6 found this helpful
Vanguard V (I suppose V is for Valkyrie) is different from any other shooter for VR I ever tried (and I tried almost all of them). The actually unavaliable Holo Impact: Prologue was the best one in my opinion in translating the shoot'em up feeling of coinops for VR, even if - like many hidden pearls for VR - unknown to many. After Vanguard V I have to set my standard even higher, because it's a sort of jump 20 years in the past when I get my Lylat Wars copy (Starfox 64 name in Europe) with the first vibration tool ever made for a controller. IMPORTANT: This is NOT a full, or half full game at the moment, as a potential buyer you should know than this is a sort of tech demo to help funding the project (final game will costs 30$ and should be avaliable in Spring 2018). Don't buy this if you're not interested in this, o you expect weekly addons with new contents. Vanguard V uses a very original control method, than can be played with or without motion controllers, I suppose with the goal to make the game avaliable for many kind of VR platforms. It seems to work equally well with both, but need some time to get used: you see your character from behind, and you can move or move/aim us…3 found this helpful
The game is only 2 levels and 10-15 minutes long. Maybe $2 would be a better price? There are also a lot of problems with controls, it looks like this game was made for DK2 and hasnt been updated since then. Updates are very sparse so i'm guessing this game is dead :(2 found this helpful
Vanguard V was the very first VR game I ever played on Google Cardboard. I was super impressed and it was one of the experiences that made me buy the VIVE. This PC version is way better in every way. The control is unique in that you control the character with your head and the guns with your hands. The music is great. It looks great. There are voiceovers. There is a lot of potential here. It's far too short. I beat the 3 parts available in Early Access in one sitting. I think this is one of those games that could be a classic. When people talk about early VR they will mention this game.1 found this helpful
I'll still approve of this game, but seeing that there has been no comments or updates to this game since I first played it, it's hard to know what happen or what could have been an amazing experience in VR, it just seems like there isn't anything here anymore aside from the beta experience.
