This is so ass man!!! *DON'T EVEN THINK OF GETTING THE GAME EVEN ON DISCOUNT, NOT WORTH YOUR TIME* I hoped that furyu would whip out a better game this time compared to their prior titles, but it's hella disappointing fr. Gameplay is hella tedious, story is predictable and has no nuance to any of the trauma they go through, combat system is sloppy and there's not thrill, the SSS Guild activities are just the same ♥♥♥♥ over and over. I hella ♥♥♥♥♥ with furyu but this is ♥♥♥♥♥ man. Might as well just play with a menu screen that pings "Level up" every time you hit the attack button, the music this time wasn't even a saving grace for this thing... please, please, please, don't waste your time and money...

If you can get this game for ten bucks on sale, genuinely buy it play two chapters, do 100% completion so you can see the worst case scenario of a completionist perspective, that's it, that's the whole game it's like 80 hours of the same one bit of nothing gameplay over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, until the heat death of the universe, I don't know how you ♥♥♥♥ a game up more than this one, it has to be like one of the worst rpgs ever made, and I'm so fascinated with it. it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wild how bad it is, the plot is also pretty clearly unfinished and it goes off the rails pretty hard, but not in an interesting way. If you wanna see a repetitive game doing the same ♥♥♥♥ over and over again while a visual novel runs in the foreground while being good, I'd recommend Girl's Made Pudding instead, that game rules and is mad cheap and has like themes going on to support doing the same thing over and over again, unlike this game that's just unfinished and padding it's runtime.

It's a worse version of Persona. Just buy Persona. Now I wish I just bought Persona.

The meme continues: great premise, great style, great characters...but “it’s a FuRyu game, though”. Lots of jank, like laughably easy combat, social stats that don't matter, tons of currency with nothing to buy, forgotten plot points, etc. On the bright side, unlike Monark I actually finished this one, which I see as evidence that FuRyu can almost put together all of its assets into a functional, complete game. They're getting closer. It's almost there. I'll recommend it anyway, to hope they continue improving in this direction.

VARLET is the usual FURYU-style game, and as such it feels a lot like their other titles such as Caligula. The world is a bit on the small side with very limited interactions — if you decide to skip even the few optional ones, playtime shrinks drastically. The plot itself isn't bad, though maybe a little too slow at the start. If you go in without too many expectations, it can work as a low-effort alternative to PERSONA. Personally, I'd give it a generous 7 out of 10.
