Vagrant Hearts, developed and published by Warfare Studios, is a story-driven RPG that draws heavily from the traditions of classic Japanese role-playing games while attempting to deliver a more character-focused narrative within its modest framework. Built using RPG Maker, it embraces a familiar structure of turn-based combat, linear progression, and dialogue-heavy storytelling, clearly positioning itself as a nostalgic experience for players who appreciate the simplicity and pacing of older RPGs. At the center of the game is the story of two sisters, Scarllet and Beatrice, whose lives are shaped by a world that fears and exploits magical abilities, setting them on diverging paths that gradually reveal a broader conflict. The narrative is arguably the most compelling aspect of the experience. By focusing on two protagonists whose journeys intertwine and separate over time, the game creates a sense of emotional continuity that carries it forward. Their relationship provides a strong foundation, giving the story a personal dimension that stands out compared to many smaller-scale RPG Maker projects. Nah. Not digging it.
🎮 Vagrant Hearts Review ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5) The Good: 📖 Story Is Alright. The story itself is decent and has some redeeming qualities worth appreciating. ✅ Can Be Finished. I did manage to finish the game despite all the bugs. It is playable to completion if you persevere. The Bad: 🐛 Too Many Bugs. The game itself has just too many bugs to recommend it. Technical issues are frequent and impact enjoyment. ⚠️ Not Recommendable Despite Completion. Even though I finished it, the buggy state makes it hard to suggest to other players. 🎯 Bug Issues Overshadow Experience. The technical problems take away from what could have been a better experience overall. Verdict: The story is alright and the game is technically finishable. But there are just too many bugs to recommend it to others. Players willing to tolerate technical issues might still get through it, but that shouldn't be necessary. Recommendation: Wait for patches and bug fixes before purchasing. Unless you enjoy persevering through technical problems, skip it for now. 👎
This is an OK RPG. The characters are just ugly though. I don't care fore the character creation done by the dev. But that is a petty annoyance on my part, and this os a classic old school game with pretty dungeions. I recommend playing the 3 game series from this dev.
