I am a 44 year old father, probably one of the oldest people playing with Beepis. I am a single father to my son, who is now 14. My son recently started this game and in less than a week, he had already played for over 20 hours. This was terrible for me, as it was already hard enough for me to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching DirtyOliveOllie on Twitch. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, did the tutorial but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he showed me how to care for my Beepis. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought my son and I closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.

"virtual beepis" is a rather mediocre and pointless tech demo, a recreation of a physical handheld 1990's toy called a "tamagotchi" or "little egg". These things weren't really games exactly, just busy work things where you had to tap buttons to feed and clean up after a little bunch of pixels on a primitive LCD display. As a simulator this has you changing the batteries and reading a manual about the tamagotchi and you can also switch it on and keep the little critter alive... but let's all just ask ourselves, why aren't these toys still popular? Answer: Because they were a dumb flash in the pan fad that died out. So I guess it's no surprise that this was even less popular in 2021. The graphics aren't great, low quality 3D assets, which, while genuinely made, aren't all that appealing. That's understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (no…
