Update: Saw server outages mentioned in another review, yep. Had one at 5:30 AM this morning, thought maybe it was server maintenance related, experiencing one again at 7:50 PM again today (6/13/2026). Yet another great reason to not have microtransactions that require a server connection to verify purchases, if you are not going to adequately maintain those servers for gameplay... 1. [b]Microtransactions, ew.[/b] You might say "but this is a free game!" Sure. But I've played the original VV series, once you've finished the game you've finished the game. And it's not that long or difficult of a game, either. It's honestly a waste of money to spend money on microtransactions in this game. I would rather just buy the game and not have microtransactions. There is no replayability here. Also, judging by the discussions tab, the new player package is even bugged. It doesn't give you the villagers it promises. 2. [b]I recommend looking up the crafting recipes.[/b] I was going to play it fair, until I realized vines respawn anywhere from 5 mins, 15 mins, 5 hrs, or 8 hrs, and it seems to err on the side of the longer times. The squirrel berries and seeds are also a long respawn time. I'm…1 found this helpful
Can't even play the game as it keeps crashing or won't load in the first place.
still funny to me that the devs tried to make VV into freemium games, lmao. the original Virtual Villagers games (the OFFLINE games with NO in-game purchases) are the best, but these are all sub-par and the latest one "origins 6" for mobile doesn't even feel like they finished it before release. still fun to play for a few days at a time, though! if anyone can make anything to "help" players get lavastones, especially since the Steam version doesn't have the same prize wheel that the app versions get, that would really improve the gameplay! and the reviews of the game 🤭
very buggy and it's likely they won't make any improvements because they've been working on Virtual Villagers 6 for a while now. I can play for hours and lose all my data just because I pressed "main menu" while the save circle was spinning, which could pop up again right after I sat there watching and waiting for the last one to end.
