An ancient genre classic.
2 found this helpful
This might be the first ever PC game I ever played. It was 1996. This game came in a shareware diskette my mom borrowed from her techie friend at work. She worked at a fast food restaurant and we barely got by, we were so poor. She had a work laptop she was allowed to bring home. It was a piece of ♥♥♥♥ that could barely boot up Microsoft Excel. We lived in a pretty run down building and on some evenings I would sneak up to the rooftop where the washing machines are and I would play the shareware levels of Wacky Wheels on my mom's work laptop while she wasn't using it. It distracted me from all the awful things I had to go through when I was 5. Anyway, I'm happy the game is still available for purchase, unlike all the games from that era that have since become abandonware or lost media. Don't throw away your memories, good or bad, they made you who you are.
PROS: -Fun as hell -Characters -Weapons -Multiplayer rocks CONS: -No upscaling -Terrible framerate +-VERY tight controls (maybe too tight for some) SIDENOTE: I remember this being played with PC speaker sounds. Is there a way to turn this feature on? I like the soundtrack and sound design, but I'm pretty nostalgic for that buzzy, beepy PC speaker that came by default back in the day.
The Whackiest of Wheels >.> DAS WHACK YO!
Fun trip down nostalgia lane. Game works pretty well on Steam Deck with good native mapping of controls.
