About Wargs

Wargs is a click-to-move MOBA with game mechanics that are inspired by massively multiplayer games like Perpetuum and Eve. WARNING! Steep learning curve ahead, but you'll be just fine if you played one of those previously mentioned titles.

As in most MOBAs, the core mechanics of Wargs revolve around capturing towers. The match is won when one of the teams captures the main enemy tower (the one closest to the enemy base).

This game allows matches with the asymmetric number of players, for example, 1 vs. 2. Also, players can hop in the match while it's already running (without any penalties). This effectively reduces the number of failed matches due to mid-game quitting.

Wargs is a dead free to play "MOBA" that seems to have been slapped together with a bit of help from the Unreal Engine (and Unreal Engine asset packs, I think). It's a multiplayer only game where you pick your champion and brawl in RPG-like combat against other players. Or you would, if there were any. According to Steam DB, the games PEAK player numbers were 3, after which the game consistently has had no players on any given day. Because the game cannot be played (a match is required for a game to start and there's no AI), I can just judge on the rudimentary and unpolished interface, locked resolution and controls, which alone are certainly enough to make a game not worth recommending. It seems the developers put some depth into the back end game design and the RPG system that the MOBA uses. This is a lot of work to embark on after settling on a disastrous business plan. Why did this game fail? It's video game autopsy time! The focus of the game is pure PvP, there's no single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the game. Developers must learn that other players are not…

Wargs is a game that clearly has a lot going on. It appears that the team has implemented all of the systems of the game, and that they function. I have not been able to play with anybody, however the tutorial and running around left me very confused and dazed. The screen is pretty much as you see in the video, but it doesn't seem to resize the UI elements for smaller screens so it feels much tighter. The control scheme doesn't feel intuitive to me, but it does seem interesting certain design decisions are interesting and would be cool to explore as a player. Perhaps there's more to the game than swinging your camera around, ctrl clicking a minion and then having to click which weapon to attack with, but it doesn't really feel like much else is going on. Also it didn't seem like characters had abilities but that you bought items which were abilities. The tutorial was bare bones. I'm willing to give it a try, but it feels really bad right now, and I can't recommend it in its' current state. Update the tutorial to give a full explanation of systems and why each character is unique, and I'll come back to see it.
