This is a 2 part experience game. The first part is the most creepy, obnoxious, annoying, thing I've ever seen or experienced in VR... And I've played the horror genre titles... If that is New Zealand RUN-- the F*CK-- AWAY. The second part (clicking on the tea cup) is more normal touristy stuff (aside from the sponsored ones where they stare awkwardly at you until you make choices)... The "fly around New Zealand" is a total sham. You'd have a better VR tourist experience just using google earth with your goggles. TLDR; CREEPY AF

WellTown is a Unreal Engine based VR tour of Wellington, New Zealand that puts you in a handful of different local spots in the famous New Zealand city of Wellywood, host city of the WETA Workshop (Lord of the Rings etc). You can see a few local scenes do a little flyover. The quality here is pretty bad, borderline terrible, so I guess now we know what the people who didn't get hired for WETA Workshop are doing with their spare time. It's not a game, there's no gameplay loops. You'd get a better experience watching Youtube travelog videos than "playing" this. I can't recommend anyone waste the time or bandwidth to download this.

A few good ideas buried under rough execution, poor design and terrible graphics. Sometimes the game can look pretty good, but for the most part it looks poor.

Возможно, кому-то управление покажется слишком ненавязчивым, но для тех, кто ищет спокойную и вдумчивую стратегию, WellTown станет прекрасным выбором. Это игра, которая позволяет расслабиться и насладиться процессом созидания, попутно осваивая принципы устойчивого развития. Played on HTC Vive Pro/Vive wands/RTX2060Super. Don't really know what to think of it. Hated the awful presenter, could it be any more dragqueen, personally I think you don't NZ/Wellington be presented with that. It's a combination of 360 video's and some minor interactions. I first started it with the Valve Index controllers, but they don't work well in this experience so I switched to my Vive wands. At each scene there isn't much to do. The 'experience more' part was part an advert for universities, and the XERO item didn't even load the visuals only audio. As it's free, I can.... hmmm... I don't know.... I don't think it was really bad, I just don't really get the point of this if it is about presenting wellington.
