Witchhazel Woods

[i]Witchhazel Woods[/i] is one of those games that has sat in my library for too long just waiting for the day that it would get an opportunity to be played. If you have ever looked at the point-and-click genre and thought about trying one, but have not wanted to get bogged down for what can feel like forever to reach the finish, get stuck with no idea what to do next or befuddled by an alarmingly obscure puzzle chain; or even have to wade through the entire thing right over just for achievements (looking at you, [i]Dreamfall Chapters[/i]); then this one may well be your perfect choice. Imagined, created and developed by a lone female developer – reason enough to want to support it, in my opinion – this is a charming little game which shouldn't take up more than a couple of hours to play through to the end and revisit for some alternative options if you want all achievements. The game could be finished much more quickly than this, but it's more fun to take your time and experiment with variations. I was surprised how short the point&click game is, but it was still fun an a colorfull cast of characters.

An adorable short point & click. A real underrated gem, and very sweet. I only wish that I could help everyone in a single run.

Great little game to chill and relax, great rendition of sentient animals. For the next game there should be a philosophy or story or message, because I can imagine the art style and ambience can do that. Maybe put an emphasis on Aesop's tales or tell something human, a similar game, Anglerfish, has done so successfully and I believe the developer can too

This game is a very short yet relaxing game about a girl who loses her dog to a ghost within the forest and must interact with all sorts of characters within this forest in order to get her dog back. This game has great graphics and music as well as simple yet interesting dialogue from all of the characters that each have their own personality. With that being said, I really liked the premise of this short game being about the importance of friendship and how we all deserve love even when we are lonely. Rachel Wigell did a great job here with her first game released on Steam and I look forward to her future games or projects if she decides to make any. I appreciate that she did this whole game by herself and I enjoy the story she was trying to tell within the forest. Regardless, I give this short game an 8/10 for it's short story premise and I look forward to what Rachel puts out next. Definitely worth buying to support her and even though I finished in under an hour, I won't refund it. <3
