WORLD EATER is a bossfight game about an underpaid astronaut fighting a giant worm in space. You are a regular crystal mining employee for the company, who has tasked you with a seamingly easy endeavor. One of their worms has discovered a magical resource called space dust, which has some interesting side effects. Set out on a mission that is most definitely not stated in your contract and defeat the world eating worm!Show em' how it's done. Run, fly, dodge and smack your way through this epic space bossfight against the colossal, solar system eating worm!

FEATURES

  • Enjoy the vast, beautiful space environments
  • Run, fly and dodge on interesting and ever-changing planets
  • Fight your way through several environments while the WORLD EATER tries to stop you

WHAT'S NEXT?

We are a small team of 4 developers who have been working at improving the current state of the game. We are planning on creating a lot more content with new and interesting mechanics and environments. We hope you join us in our journey in making our student project a full-fledged game!

Fun concept, just a single boss with 3 phases, each with similar and highly telegraphed attacks. Bad execution (not that bad actually, but glitchy enough to be a problem). I get that this is just a student project by 4 devs, which makes it extremely impressive. However, I found the game to be glitchy and unejoyable to go for 100% achievements. (Theres a part of me that just doesn't believe that almost the same number of people have beat the game no hit, found the hall of fame, and found the potato black hole, unless this is just a massive skill issue on my part [I'm not a game journalist, I swear]). 1 or 2 playthroughs max. Just beat the worm and be done, like most the other reviews here (check the playtime). On my trek to try to no-hit the worm (I still haven't) as of writing this, I've found extremely frustrating that 1. Touching the worm, just barely somehow inflicts massive damage on you (it just doesn't make sense that touching a stationary worm deals damage. I'd understand if it was moving, but stationary, I call BS). 2. While light attacks feel much nicer, it just isn't worth using them at all for no-hit. Heavy attacks are what I feel are the only viable way to grind o…

fun game. i like how the world eater has enough spontaneity to keep me on my toes but not so much that it's frustrating. hit boxes are kinda huge and i wish momentum was more of thing in the movement. Overall, I enjoyed it. It has nice visuals and i can't say much for the music as i was blasting crystal castles the whole time but I enjoy the general aesthetic of the game. I noticed a few bugs: one on the final level where the worm and I just couldnt hit eachother on one side of the split planet, one where all my momentum would suddenly get killed midair and i couldnt move at all horizontally, and idk if it's intentional but the big guy gets stuck on the other side of the split planet sometimes and you gotta go fetch him.

I always was confused why people would give negative reviews for free games, but I get it now. To be clear, there is promise in this game. The creator has some obvious motivation, and it's idea is unique enough to initially draw me into it, but I think at the moment, it's really not worth playing.
