What Steam players say

Players praise the game's adorable presentation, cute dog characters, and satisfying deck-building mechanics with fluid animations, though some find the pacing slow. The main complaints center on balance issues, particularly with certain enemy abilities like distraction stacking that can create unwinnable situations, alongside requests for more responsive controls, clearer UI, and better tooltips explaining card effects. There's also concern about the game's limited current content and uncertainty about whether the developers plan to continue supporting it with updates.
Disclaimer: while I haven't played for long at the time of reviewing, I feel comfortable writing this review anyway, as in that short time, I believe I've gotten a pretty clear idea of what this game has to offer. As of now, I'm 'not recommending' this game. That may change in the future, depending entirely on whether this game is updated/supported by the devs. I think it has potential, and it's a really cute idea, but it doesn't offer much currently. The price is fair, for how limited the game feels in its current state. So if you're looking for a pretty basic, easy, straightforward experience, you might enjoy this. I would love to see some clarity/transparency from the devs about a few things. Do they plan to continue updating, or is this the finished product as is? Are all assets within the game human-made (if you're unaware, the dev's reddit post history shows multiple instances of generative AI usage, including for early versions of the art for this game)? Currently, you can only own three dog breeds -- do the devs plan to add more overtime? There are also some weird UI/menu things/improvements that could be made. I would also love if the dogs' animations had a lit…6 found this helpful
In general, I do like the idea of the game. I'm quite a fan of roguelites, so I was looking forward to trying this out. There is certain feedback I can give on how I would like some actions to be more responsive, like the cards being clickable in quicker succession, how I would like the world map to be a bit easier to look at, or how it would be nice to be able to preview toy effects in the dog screens when I, for example, get offered the bribe or the leash, which I had no idea what it did on my first run. But my biggest feedback point right now is balancing. I got stuck on multiple occasions with an enemy constantly adding distraction to me, and there is just no way out of it. The last time it rose to 172, because it only needs a few doubles to get there. Safe to say there is no way out of that, and I had to just cancel the run. I feel like this shouldn't be possible ever. I would be fine with losing, but having an enemy that doesn't win, while I am also unable to get any points, has me stuck in an infinite loop. Combine this with an enemy that can only distract and steal when you have the toy that disables stealing, and you will just sit there. I think some of the issues could …4 found this helpful
Very easy to pick up game, cute, and seems to have a good gameplay loop.2 found this helpful
Good idea, poor execution. In my first run I encountered a pup that stacked distraction on me, with no way to counter it. I was doing the same to it. Just led to a stale mate where neither of us could get points. Don't want to play a game where a run can just randomly be over if you happen to encounter a distraction stacking pup.1 found this helpful
SUUUUUCH A CUTE GAME!!! I am a big dog lover, so I am always looking for more dog related games. This one is super cute AND super fun! I love the artstyle and the silly animations and texts. Also the fact that the champions are famous dogs, especially Balto!!! (One of my fav dogs EVER) I really hope there will be an update or a sequel, because I love it so much. Or maybe a Player VS Player mode! Anyway, I can't wait to play more, such a perfect game!!
It fulfils "numbers goes up" and satisfactory feeling of stacking buffs; plus changing the flow of show in one turn; while also having cure presentation for dog lovers. Maybe it could add variants for the in-between stages. Cute and short experiences overall for dog lovers.
