In 19th century Japan, you’re a humble fisherman who has finally taken over your family’s sushi business. Cooking by day and fishing by night, you strive to uphold your family’s legacy. But once a year, during the blood moon, the fish that swim the sea give way to fearsome cryptids from the deep—the yōkai. Over the course of four nights, use your cursor to explore the ocean depths and hook the most fabled of monsters. Then, drag and drop in quick succession as you transform these strange creatures into the most delectable sushi in the land. And make sure to read your journal entries to discover the lore of the fascinatingly frightening world around you!

A simple short game with memorable art reminiscent of old Japanese paintings. To start the designs of the yokai and general artstyle is one of the games strongest points. The designs veer close to their traditional depictions only taking minor artistic liberties at times and the artstyle is clearly inspired by the older style of paintings those traditional depictions are in as well. Each yokai is given a distinct call when you come close to them, which can be both fittingly unsettling and helpful for distinguishing them in the later darker levels. While the gameplay of both the fishing minigame and the sushi making minigame doesn’t change or add anything to the common formula and is very easy, it is not the main draw of the game as I see it. That would rather lie in the subtle horror atmosphere created by the art and sound design as well as each of those components individually. There is a minimal amount of story at the start of each day, but it serves mostly as set dressing. As it stands there isn’t a lot to the game past its premise and art, but with how short it is it can still be enjoyable for about half an hour if you have the time to spare.1 found this helpful
lack of instruction makes game unpleasant
The art is very good, and the concept of making sushi out of yokai is cool! Very quick to complete but i loved watching the spooky guys swimming around. My favorite yokai featured was the Amabie!
Its not bad, i wish there was more to it though, after you finish cooking you just go back and fish again. If you like these kind of games i do suggest it but it isnt all too fun.
It's a cute little game which I unexpectedly enjoyed. If you're a yokai lover, check this one out!
