It's a whopping 21 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for any modern gaming display resolutions (or widescreen monitors), hasn't been modernised or updated to run on modern gaming PCs. The game does not work and cannot be played. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge, or just a cash grab to try profit from abandonware. It was an old party/quiz game, which is fine I suppose, but you can play those for free in a web browser. Why on earth would anyone pay money for one on Steam? Let alone a broken one that doesn't work! Unethically, the developers have left this on the Steam store in an unplayable and broken state. It's the responsibility of the developer to maintain their product, ensure it runs on all modern PCs, or if they determine there's defects and the game doesn't work, they should remove it from sale instead of misleading…

I would say that this is the most underrated but really regrettably low for YDKJ standards. By that I meant, the writing feels weak. I know "Lost Gold" means, the questions that may or may not been unused or not made into the previous titles, but that's my speculation. 1) I do like the visuals, the questions and many segmented parts but a short 7 questions including the final round, Jack Attack, was not enough itch of it. And the devs never patched the game where the game never loads or open, which was really sad to say, overwhelming bad first impression for the game. You HAD to have the fan made patch where you need to put before playing. 2) Schmitty is genuinely a draw back for some people, I do too for a bit. I am a fan but more so 2nd or 3rd. 1st being Cookie Masterson. Unlike how he was on Quiplash titles and other Jackbox Party Pack where he/his voice appeared, this, Television and episodes of the Ride sounds like a pretentious man. Probably the most weaksauced volume in the Old School Jack collection and that's only if you can get it to work. The pirate theme might have some potential, but it feels like too many of these questions were workshopped and passed in favor of better ones. Schmitty tries his best as host, but he can't make it work. As for getting the game to work, yeah, it's like I might have gotten the game to work twice. Tried multiple patches and anything else I can think of. But it refuses to play. Thankfully the other games do make the old school pack worth the price. But I wouldn't take it as free, not after all the issues I've had with getting it to play.

sucks that the game by default doesn't work but with the patch it's pretty fun
