About Youmu's Cube Adventure
Starring Youmu Konpaku from Touhou Project! In this challenging physics-based game, you will have to precisely lift the cube against gravity and carefully navigate to the exit of each level without touching the walls or enemies. But this is easier said than done, due to the cube's high speed as well as enemies that will try to mess with you! Mechanics like Focus mode and the Charged slash will prove useful, but expect to fail a lot. Fortunately, a lower-difficulty option is also available. Can you beat all 100 levels, with all sorts of different enemies & mechanics scattered across the journey?
- 100 levels, plus something extra at the end
- 6 worlds, each bringing their own challenges
- Fight or escape from 17 different foes, each with their own behavior
- Use the power of Animal Spirits to alter Youmu's abilities to complete levels

This game is in fact rather difficult. The gravity aspect of this game takes a while to get used to, and in the end I still was not quite comfortable with it. This game incorporates new idea in every world which generally keeps gameplay fresh. But I think it could benefit from more levels with ideas like the one where it rotates (It is in the trailer), as that is the only level with such a feature or any moving wall besides the frequent back and forth of some walls. But despite this, this game is not creatively bankrupt, unlike some people seem to claim (*cough cough* obeythefist *cough cough*). If I could change one thing about the game, it would be changing level 99 specifically. Quite frankly it is extremely frustrating because you move back and forth on the same path like 4 and a half times, getting progressively easier, but still extending the level unnecessarily. Additionally, the gap you have to clear at the very end is too narrow. It does not really come down to skill, but rather being lucky enough to tap your W and S key in such a way that you align perfectly (I died once because I went slightly too far). Also, hitboxes are not 100% clear. This is not usually an issue and …1 found this helpful
"Youmu's Cube Adventure" is not really a platformer, although it looks like one at first glance, it's really more of a 2D side view puzzle/physics/action thing... that doesn't mean it's great. It's a creatively bankrupt ripoff of Zun's Touhou intellectual property... now, Zun does generally permit his Touhou IP to be used if it's not for profit, and this is not monetised (because nobody would pay for this junk), so it's unlikely he'll file a cease and desist, despite this "fan project" doing quite a bit of harm to the franchise due to the lack of quality. What do you do in the game? Plod through 100 mediocre levels... not sure who didn't get the memo, but more of a bad thing doesn't make it better, it makes it worse. Visually, this features mediocre hand drawn style "Baby's First Wacom Tablet" art instead of contemporary graphics. This obviously looks better than pixelcrap, but that's a really low bar to barely stumble over. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks worse than a professionally made game…1 found this helpful
Just finished this (on standard), damn it's hard Clean simple game, no mechanics left behind, but VERY tough to execute If you think something about the mechanics doesn't make sense, think harder, cause you're missing something Would speedrun but I'm scared of hurting my hands lol Possible QoL improvements: - Show minutes and seconds - Autocharge: charge when not holding M1, rapid slash when holding M1 (so we only have to destroy one hand) - Crosshair on mouse so it's easier to see what direction we'll recoil in (if it disappears to indicate you're outside the window, even better! I had some trouble in one level with that) - Fullscreen shortcut and selectable display
Small charming little game, it isnt for me but i hope to see more from Shyguymask!
