One Turn Kill

I was looking around for games to buy during the sale, and when I saw this game I was thinking about the fact that it was cheap and looked like a fun quick game that I'd play for a night and then forget about. I was right for 3 of those 4 things. The story genuinely making me think, the music fitting so well and hitting so hard, the action and animations feeling so crisp and smooth, how the whole game just feels so fluid and nice, each different character feeling way deeper than just an NPC, all the different builds and upgrades feeling so unique and fun. I don't think I'm ever going to forget this absolute gem of a game. I genuinely ended up shedding tears to the ending, and if everything else somehow didn't make an impression, that absolutely did. I cannot recommend this game enough to literally anyone, and if steam let me, this absolutely wouldn't be my only positive review.

A short but sweet deckbuilder with a really good soundtrack. Pretty replayable, with variable difficulty settings too. I'd guess it takes about 4-5 hours to complete fully, with your first clear taking closer to one. The story progresses based on your difficulty settings, so make sure to change them to access new story.

What if there was a card game in which your deck size is also your health bar and your mana bar

Absolutely wonderful mechanic, where you are fighting to make sure you don't overspend your deck and run out of energy, or underspend and don't have any playable cards left. Beautiful soundtrack too.

Slay the Spire, this is not. In fact, I'd say it's better. This is one of my favorite indie games, and an easy 10/10 recommendation for anyone who found this charming gem. It doesn't cost much, and it can be binged in a weekend. Just buy it already. Now, that high praise comes with setting expectations correctly. This is not Slay the Spire. Don't expect to get hundreds of hours of enjoyment from One Turn Kill. I clocked ~15 hours, and that includes 100% achievements and about 4 hours of my own personal quest to kill the unlockable test dummy that has 99,999 HP when the final boss only has 900 HP. Yes, it's an impossible challenge and a grind with no reward. I still enjoyed it. I was technically "done" with the game at 10 hours, but I wanted to keep playing it more so I created an artificial challenge for myself. One Turn Kill is based around the idea of killing bosses in a single turn. However, that's a bit of a little white lie. Yes, when you click the "end turn" button you instantly die.
